In today's society, the media has many ways of portraying women in a positive and negative way. One way that portrays women in both ways is music. Men often portray women in their music videos as the blonde bimbos, or they sing about how we are their for their enjoyment or they use women to sell their song and music video. In July 2014, the country duo Maddie and Tae released a song titled "Girl in a Country Song" as a response to the men of country music that were using women for sexual appeal in their music videos. As much as I agree with the idea that women shouldn't be used as sex symbols in order to sell things, I believe that their are country songs that women should want to be the "girl in a country song."
1. "Then" -- Brad Paisley
This was a song Brad wrote for his wife after their son was born. He talks about how he thought he loved her but ththereeir was always something that comes up that makes him love her more. Girls should be with a man that is looking for ways to fall even more in love with them.
2. "I Don't Dance" -- Lee Brice
Lee Brice sings about the fact that he doesn't dance but he would be willing to do anything for you anywhere. Every girl should want a man that is willing to try anything that they want them to try.
3. "Crazy Girl" -- Eli Young Band
Couples fight. This song by the Eli Young Band reminds us of this and that even though couples fight, he's not going anywhere. A girl should find a guy that is willing to work through the hard times and doesn't want to leave.
4. "Die a Happy Man" -- Thomas Rhett
Thomas Rhett explains that he doesn't need fancy trips, he just needs the woman he's with and they don't have to do anything special. You should have someone that just wants to be with you; they don't need anything extravagant.
5. "I want Crazy" -- Hunter Hayes
Hunter is looking for someone that he can be spontaneous with, and you should too. Don't do what's expected; do the unexpected.
You should want to be the girl in a country song with these songs. These guys are singing about treating their women with respect and loving them as they should. These songs also don't put women down. Don't be afraid to be the girl in a country song.
