Hey you.
Yeah you. The girl crying in the fitting room while she thinks her friends look gorgeous.
To the girl listening to her friends complain about how their size 3 skirt is a little too big on them but all the 0’s are sold out. Yet you’re in there trying on a size 10 and still debating if it even looks good on you.
To the girl just praying that one of the three sizes of two different style of pants fits so you don’t have to leave the changing room with six pairs of pants, zero of which fit nicely.
To the girl who just wants a really nice shirt to wear out with her friends for her 18th birthday, where she is officially a woman, but can’t find any that don’t make her look like a "flat chested little girl."
To the girl bathing suit shopping. Trying to find the perfect bikini to show off her curves, but also making her look skinny and cute. But then realizing that doesn’t exist when looking in the mirror at her own reflection in her eyes.
Hey you.
Yeah you. The girl crying in the fitting room.
You are so much more than what your eyes are negatively telling you through that mirror. Don’t let that number on those jeans, or the “super super stretch” brand hurt you. You are not there to let your negative thoughts take over. You are in that fitting room in that store to find the perfect outfit. And if it isn’t in that store, try a new one. Buy something that makes you feel happy. Buy something that makes you feel confident.
Sometimes media, and even your friends without knowing it can make you forget to love your own body. You tend to compare bodies to everyone else around you, and yours becomes overlooked. We need to remember that our bodies are special. We are living because of our bodies. They are amazing. You can run, jump, sit, hug, throw, eat, cuddle, walk, etc. all with that one body.
So what that shirt doesn’t fit right or you need a different size pants? When you get home, cut the tags. Don’t let that number define you. Don’t let that number get in the way of how bomb you look in that new dress. Only your opinion of your body matters; that opinion should be a positive one.
Hey you.
Yeah you.
You are beautiful. You are unique. You are unapologetically you.
