Just in case you haven't seen the ads and posts all over Facebook and the rest of the internet, Gilmore Girls is making a long awaited comeback in just a matter of weeks on Netflix entitled, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. And just a few days ago, Netflix released the official trailer for the four-part revival. Check it out if you haven't right here: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
As I said before, this revival has been long awaited by Gilmore Girls fans. The show originally ended almost 10 years ago and left fans on the biggest cliff you can imagine. I see the point from the writers side, let things be open ended, that way fans can come to their own conclusion about what happened with the character's lives. But now, we finally get to know the truth. And by the looks of the trailer, we won't be disappointed.
That true Gilmore and spirit is back complete with the witty banter and appetite like no other. Within the first five seconds we see that the famous Gilmore appetite has not changed in the slightest. And, within the first 30 seconds, we get that witty banter filled with pop culture references that the true fans of the show miss.
We get another dose of their awe-striking appetites, but we also see Luke, in Lorelei's kitchen, making dinner, and acting fatherly towards Rory. But, there is no sign of a wedding ring on Lorelei or Luke's hands, so did they actually get married within the last 10 years, or just dating for 10 years? So many questions surrounding them.
We see that Rory has grown up, and is still trying to figure out her life, just like she was when we last saw her. What happened with that press job she had touring the country with at the time, presidential candidate Barack Obama's political campaign? We get the impression that she goes to London. But why? We know that her long-time boyfriend Logan Huntzberger once worked across the pond, but he moved back to New York in season seven. So did he move back? Did she go to see him?
Then, there is one obvious question that I really, really want an answer to. And that is: What on earth is Kirk doing at what appears to be a traditional, one of the legendary, Friday night dinners?
Then there is the moment we are all dreading, and that is a glimpse of Richard's funeral. That will be a tough scene or two to watch. Then for the first time ever, Emily Gilmore is not dressed to the nines, but instead is in a simple pair of jeans and a tee shirt. Who knew she even owned those? We see how she handles Richard's death. By decluttering her life and getting rid of things that don't bring her joy. Things like a beautiful dress and the dinning room chairs.
And then we see a glimpse into Rory's story a little as she is having drinks with none other than Jess. But she talks about not knowing what she wants to do with her life -- that sounds familiar. We see a shot of her standing on what appears to be the Chilton campus, so maybe a possible connection there?
And if you weren't excited enough about seeing Michel back at it at the Dragonfly Inn, we see Dean at Doose's Market, Lane back at her drum set, Paris back at Chilton? Logan looking as handsome as ever, and Sukie played by Melissa McCarthy back in the kitchen! So much excitement about that. But what is with the pig running through the town square? I want to know that.
It looks as though they got everyone in the cast back for the revival and by the looks of the promo, it's gonna be good. There is so much to look forward to with this revival, so many new questions arising from the promo. So the Gilmore fans finally get some answers to both new and old questions on November 25, 2016. Go mark your calendars if you haven't already! And, stay tuned, I will be doing something after the revival is released!
