" Gilmore Girls" brought seven years of joy and laughter into our lives and we never thought that something else could compare. In 2011, we were introduced to the town of Bluebell and "Hart of Dixie" gave us a bit of feeling at home. Both small towns have a great deal of similarities that can't go unnoticed.
Bluebell vs. Stars Hollow.
Both small towns have a gazebo in the center of town and their local mom and pop shops surrounding the town. The town people all know each other and they all of have history whether that was watching each other grow up or knowing the others family members.
Town meetings.
In "Gilmore Girls" we see the weekly town meetings led by Taylor Doose, but in "Hart of DIxie," town meetings are usually held by the Bells with only Bells doing the planning and meeting.
Old ladies gossiping.
When Zoe first moves to Bluebell, we see the three old ladies on their bench, every day, gossiping about the new doctor in the shorts. In Stars Hollow, the two gossiping old ladies are our beloved Miss Patty and Babette who know everything from who is dating to what new things are happening in town.
Town events.
These two small towns both have their fun and festive events that are very unique to them. From Lorelai having her dog run a booth at one of their Winter Festivals to Zoe riding on the Mayor's float at the Founder's Day parade.
Basket auction.
Both TV shows have a Basket Auction where people bid on a picnic basket and the highest bidder gets the basket and a date with the basket maker. The best place for first dates.
Revolutionary War re-enactments.
Stars Hollow and Bluebell love their history and don't stop at just remembering it, but take days and nights to reenact its history. Bluebell went 24-hours without electricity and Stars Hollow had their reenactment in the snow -- that's commitment.
The Rammer Jammer vs. Luke's Diner.
The towns people of Bliuebell and Stars Hollow can't live without their breakfast, lunch and dinner run to their local restaurant. The Rammer Jammer and Luke's Diner are the town favorites because of their rustic charm and history.
