Netflix is probably 80% of college students best friend. There are just so many great tv shows and movies to choose from. Every so often Netflix will release a set of new shows, movies, or new episodes to shows that they already provide. In this last batch of shows released, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was one of the shows to be added.

I grew up watching Gilmore Girls. It came on every evening on ABC Family at 5 pm. I watched it religiously. Every day I was there to watch the episodes and every fall when it started back up I’d watch the reruns. When I found out that new episodes were being made to show “where they are now”, I was so excited.

Season one of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has four episodes; one for every season. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.

Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the new season and seeing where they all ended up. I just have some beef with some of the things that happened. Here is a list of things that I (as a avid Gilmore Girls fan) think could have been done better:

1. Rory is all kinds of messed up.

She was always so focused and put together and now she doesn’t have a job, or a home, or even a steady plan for what she’s going to do from now on. When Taylor talks about closing the Gazette, Rory doesn't even offer to do it. She just sits there while they talk about it. Excuse me?! Rory Gilmore was a go getter, she would have spoken up... she would have been dying to run her own newspaper.

2. Sookie and Lorelai

They could have made it seem like they saw each other every once in awhile. Instead, they made it out to be like she up and left and was a horrible person. Yet then she shows up for the wedding? What?

3. Luke and Lorelai

Do they really need a baby? They both have kids and Luke practically raised Rory. Why add this whole thing in?

4. Logan...

What?! Logan is getting married yet he's having an affair with Rory. I know that there was always a thing between Rory and Logan but this seems like they took it too far.

5. The Musical Committee

Why is Mrs. Patty not on this? She was always the one in control of all the plays and anything musical. If there was a committee she would be the first person to volunteer.

Here are a few things that I actually liked:

1. Richard's death

With actor Edward Herrmann passing away on 2014, they tastefully had Richard "die" instead of finding a new actor because I just would not have been the same.

2. Emily Gilmore

I loved the way they made her grieving realistic. She kind of went off the deep end but that was okay because she was upset that she lost her husband.

3. Chilton

The return to Chilton was great. The way Paris was so intense and scared the students was so her. But why did Rory talk about composition class? Why not the paper?

4. I liked that each of the four episodes were based on a season. It really added to the "year in the life" concept.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
