After years of wondering what could have been and then months of waiting after it was announced that Gilmore Girls would be coming back to Netflix for a four episode special, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life has finally aired. Newflash: there are many feels to discuss so lets get to it, shall we? (If you have yet to watch the revival yet you better open up a tab with Netflix and get to it before you read this article. Spoilers ahead!)

I personally was not too pleased or impressed with the revival. I would consider myself a superfan, I have watched the original series in its entirety more times that I could count at this point. I sing along the opening things as if I wrote it. I get goosebumps when all of the wonderful small town cute things happen. I consider the Gilmores to be my family and the people of Stars Hollow to be my neighbors and friends. With that being said, the revival felt a bit off. Yes, it has been many years, yes the cast has grown up but some of the revival felt like open ended questions as opposed to the closure we were all so desperately seeking all of these years. There is so much to say about everyone in the series but for the sake of not making this article a novel, let's focus solely on the Gilmore women.

Emily Gilmore

We all knew whatever Emily went through would be somewhat sad and very much life changing since Richard had passed. I'd say her story in the revival was my favorite. While she began the series a bit more lost (and a bit meaner) than normal, it eventually leveled out. She was able to finally move on from being simply Richard Gilmore's wife and was able to cultivate a life all her own that didn't revolve around keeping up with all of her appearances. She moved to Nantucket after selling her home in Hartford and started a job of her own. She truly became her own woman and I think it was definitely time for her to focus solely on herself.

Lorelai Gilmore

Lorelai's story began sad and ended pretty well although the road to get there was rough. The up and down with Luke was a bit disappointing. I had hoped that after all this time they would already have it all figured out and not be having the same issues they had before with keeping their lives too separated. But alas, they couldn't seem to pull it together until the final episode. I suppose we couldn't just have 4 episodes of bliss. Although I wouldn't have been mad at it if we did. Though, when it finally came together for her and Luke and they decided to get married in the middle of the night before their actual wedding, it felt so very Luke and Lorelai. It was perfect. Another arch that made everything a bit better was the idea to expand the Dragonfly. Lorelai had put her all into that place so it only made sense that she continue it on an even larger scale. I wasn't quite into the Lorelai hiking away her problems story line but I did appreciate the opportunity those scenes gave for cameos from Parenthood characters. All in all, Lorelai's scenes provided some more answers about who she was as a person, who she's become since the original show ended and allowed some closure with a happy ending overall.

Rory Gilmore

This little lady had quite the story and I feel like hers was the most disappointing. I get it, it's hard figuring out your life when you did everything you were supposed to in order to succeed and it all fell through. However, the way Rory was acting felt more like how she should have been at 22, not 32. First off, the boyfriend she kept forgetting about was a story line I'm sure that was meant to be funny however when you add on Rory's trips to London to hook up with Logan (engaged Logan at that!!!!), the joke becomes much less comical. Speaking of the affair with Logan, did Rory learn nothing from losing her virginity to a married Dean? Can we please let Rory be something other than the side chick? That would be fantastic. Also, as a diehard member of #teamjess, I will be forever butthurt that Rory wasn't able to reunite with Jess in the revival how I had always dreamed of her doing. He so clearly still cares for her. It would have been nice to see them get together and discuss books for the rest of their lives. And finally, the most open ended part of the entire revival, Rory is pregnant??? And we don't know who the father is. Forgotten boyfriend Paul? I doubt it. If she can't remember to break up with him, I assume there isn't much going on in the bedroom. Logan? Perhaps. Seems likely in fact but I hate that idea so we're not going to dwell on it. Or the unlikely but hopeful Jess? Perhaps they snuck off and met up and we just didn't see it! (A girl can hope!!!) Although, I'm just upset that the series ended with Rory being pregnant. I understand that it brings things full circle but I don't even recall Rory ever talking about wanting children. Either way, we may never know who's the father and that will bug me forever. Overall I was disappointed with the majority of Rory's story in the revival.

All in all the revival was meh at best in my opinion. Maybe my hopes were too high, maybe it truly wasn't that great. Either way, where they lead, we will still follow. Although we may only follow to the original 6 seasons (7 doesn't count) and the revival may be a one time only watch.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
