Get ready to binge watch! Netflix has finally set the release date of the much-anticipated revival of "Gilmore Girls." The revived series "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Lif"e is going to consist of four 90-minute installments that are going to take place during each season of fall, winter, spring and summer and will debut on November 25, 2016 at 12:01 a.m.
The show first aired 16 years ago and has become one of Netflix's most popular shows. Whether you started watching it the old school way on TV or binge watched the entire series in a couple of months, you are most definitely excited for this reboot; I mean, how could you not be? Along with our two favorite Gilmore's, Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham), our favorite Stars Hollow spots are going to be featured like: Luke's Diner & the Dragonfly Inn. Also not to mention the comeback of many series regulars: Sookie (Melissa McCarthy), Luke (Scott Patterson), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), Emily (Kelly Bishop), Lane (Keiko Agena), Paris (Liza Weil), Kirk (Sean Gunn) and Michel (Yanic Truesdale) — and that's just to name a few.
In the teaser scene released by Netflix earlier this week, Rory and Lorelai appear to be sitting at what may be their kitchen table talking about Amy Schumer and the corpse flower. Did Amy catch wind of this? Of course she did. And just as anyone would in today's world, she took to Twitter to comically respond to the teaser, tweeting: "I've only done 2 water sports and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too)"
Earlier this year some of the cast sat on a panel and had open discussion about the series; here's a recap of some of the Q&A in case you missed out:
Any questions you may have left running around your brain about Rory's love life are going to be answered in the series. During the panel, Alexis Beldel revealed that all of Rory's ex-boyfriends make an appearance during the series, one way or another, and all questions will be answered by the end of it.
Stars Hollow, of course with time, has changed a bit. Amy Sherman-Palladino joked about saying that Warner Bros had to have gotten a deal on brown paint because all of Stars Hollow's storefronts had no longer existed and had been painted over when the cast and crew first arrived on set.
Are Lorelai and Luke together? Lauren Graham wasn't able to reveal much on this, but she did say that Lorelai does have a love life in the series.
If you've watched Gilmore Girls you are undoubtedly excited for this four-part revival to air on Netflix. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, or just want to watch it again (...and again), check it out here!
I know I'll definitely be wide-eyed and awake when it's released with a cup of coffee in hand, in true coffee-loving Gilmore fashion.
