With talks of a 'Gilmore Girls' revival, fans everywhere couldn't believe the amazing news. Netflix was going to give us four 90 minute long episodes of a look into the life of those in Stars Hollow for the first time in nine years. Each episode was titled after a season, giving viewers a glance of a "year in the life" of a Gilmore girl. Being a huge 'Gilmore Girls' fan myself, the news about a revival was the best news I (and everyone else) heard in 2016. Hearing that all of Rory's boyfriends would also be back was like a dream come true, unless you're Team Dean. I may be a little biased, but Dean could've used a little more onscreen time, am I right ladies? But now, with the end of 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' leaving fans with the biggest cliff hanger ever (*cough, cough* those last four words), we can't help but have even more questions and demand more episodes to get those answers. Rory seems to be a mess and can't get her life together. Jumping from boy to boy and having an early midlife crisis, we want to see the determined and independent old Rory from previous episodes. Or how about Jess? He was that bad boy character when he first started out on the show. As time went on, however, we saw that Jess cared for Rory, supported her and, as we saw in the revival, will always love her. That being said, if Netflix is going to give us more episodes, we want some of these impending questions answered:
1. From Logan to the Wookie, who is Rory's baby daddy?
Those last four words were the biggest cliff hanger that fans could have been left with. How do the creators think that we would be ok with an ending like that? We want more. Could it be Logan? After all, she would sneak away to London just to see him. Could it be the one night stand with the Wookie? For Rory's sake, lets hope not. Or could Paul, the forgettable boyfriend, also be a contender? We can't remember if Rory actually broke up with him or forgot to.
2. Justice for Jess - Will he ever get the girl?
Jess has always been the guy that steers Rory in the right direction. It doesn't matter if you're Team Dean or Team Logan, it was Jess who got her back at Yale and it was Jess who gave her the idea to write a book about her and Lorelai's lives. As much as I'm all for Dean and Rory being together (a girl can dream, right?), Jess was the only other boyfriend that I felt was good enough for her and someone who I would've been ok if they ended up together (sorry Team Logan). If there are more episodes, Jess either needs to get the closure he deserves or finally get the girl.
3. Luke and Lorelai - Does it take a Wild stint for them to work out their problems?
Even though they're now married, better communication between the two is something that the writers should consider. We've seen it before, Luke kept April a secret from Lorelai for the longest and then there was all the drama with Christopher. With the revival, Lorelai went on to have her one Wild movie moment, which only left Luke thinking she might leave him. Their marriage was something we saw coming from the start, but with better communication between the two, we know Luke and Lorelai will live that happily ever after life that they deserve.
4. Whatever happened to the old Rory?
Talk about an early midlife crisis. Old Rory was strong willed and determined. She knew what her goals were from a young age and how she was going to achieve them. Now, it seems as though she jumps from guy to guy and we're not even too sure what her job actually entails. If there are more episodes, we'd like to see Rory get her life together with a steady job, possibly a husband and just go back to her old self.
So the question still stands: Do we need more episodes of 'Gilmore Girls'? The answer is yes, it will always be yes. They can't just leave us with the biggest cliffhanger and expect fans to be ok afterwards. Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, spoke to the U.K. Press Association and revealed that him and Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of 'Gilmore Girls', have been in talks about more episodes to come. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ted Sarandos "hopes there are more installments" of 'Gilmore Girls' to come. Sarandos goes on to saying, "We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hope. The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you." Unlike how 'A Year in the Life' did, let's hope that we'll be left with more answers than questions if there are more episodes in the works. It's the least us 'Gilmore Girls' fans deserve, right?
