Testing, testing, is this mic on? I don't know if you've been living under a rock or not but if you haven't than you should be well aware of the fact that GILMORE GIRLS IS RETURNING!
It has been almost 16 years since the first season of Gilmore Girls premiered. A show that began as something quirky and cute quickly became a part of many of our hearts. For seven years we followed the lives of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Many of us probably watching in hopes that we could one day have the same mother-daughter relationship with our own kids. From the beginning of high school until the end of college, Rory's life was a part of our own. I don't know about you but I never had such high standards for myself until I saw how driven Rory was. "If Rory can get into Harvard, Yale, AND Princeton surely I can pass this community college course."
The show filled us with lessons on life, love, motherhood, friendship, even some religion aspects were thrown in thanks to Rory's best friend Lane. Year after year I try in hopes of finding a show that made me as happy as Gilmore Girls did. To those who followed along each and every season, it wasn't just a show, it was a part of life. Still to this day there has yet to be a show created in such a way as this one. Although it may be said that the finale was not exactly what some had hoped for, we look past that and focus on the good.
When news hit that there was going to be a Gilmore Girls reunion it spread like wildfire. Is it true? Are all the original cast members returning? Will it give us the finale we have all ever hoped for? Will Luke and Lorelai FINALLY be together? Will Rory ever end up with Jess?! (He was always my personal favorite). All of these thoughts raced through our minds and yes, it is true. Sometime soon (there is no official release date yet) all of our questions will be answered!
It has been said that the original creator/writer Amy Sherman-Palladino was not a part of the the final season of Gilmore Girls so this is her revival on how she thinks the show should have ended.
It will take place in current time. So skip forward about 10 years, and here we will find the Gilmore Girls and how their lives have played out. Instead of having an entire tv "season" the idea is to create four 90-minute movies to represent each season of the year.
As far as the cast members go it has been officially stated that Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop signed on to reprise their respective roles as Lorelai, Rory, Luke and Emily. Other returning members include Sean Gunn (Kirk) and Keiko Agena (Lane). The only known boyfriend of Rory's that has said he is returning is Matt Czuchry who played the part of Logan. It has been rumored that all three of Rory's past boyfriends will return and sort of "fight" for her in a way, but we'll see! Melissa McCarthy who formerly played Lorelai's best friend Sookie is said to not be returning for obvious reasons. She's kind of a huge actress now.
No matter who, what, when or where this all happens the fact is IT IS HAPPENING! Although it is not stated the exact release date, we've waited 10 years I think we can wait a little bit longer.
To all you Gilmore Girls fans out there: Keep your eyes and ears out, there is hope after all!
