If you do not live under a rock, you should have heard about one of todays top models, Gigi Hadid and her incident in Milan. If you do, a quick round up of what happened.
A known prankster named, Vitalii Sediuk, lifted Hadid off of her two feet as she was trying to get into her car following the Max Mara show. He explains his reasoning behind attacking Gigi as justifiable because she is just a "cute girl from Instagram" and not deserving of supermodel status. He goes on to call out legend and American Vogue editor Anna Wintour for her decisions over the years to put the Kardashian/Jenners on her covers. More recently, Kendall Jenner on this year's September issue (A.K.A, the biggest issue of the year).
His feelings coincide with a lot of people inside the industry and on the outside. More so on the work ethic and reputation of Kendall Jenner as a model and the impact her family has made on the industry, 'the Kardashian effect'. Other models from the past and present have been quick to criticize or to praise these girls. Anyone remember Jordan Dunn's beef with Jenner?
Headlines have been brutal towards Hadid for elbowing Sediuk. But really, if a man is lifting you off your feet on the street, what are you going to do? This is not the pranksters first offense. He is a well-known TV personality in Ukraine and has a history with Ameican celebrities. He has tried to kiss Will Smith, crawl under America Ferrera's dress and grab Kim Kardashian.
Hadid tweeted out, "Girls, prepare yourselves so that, if you ever feel in danger, muscle memory can fight back for you. Thank you all so much for ur (sic) support". Gigi's good elbow is an example for all young girls about defending themselves and no one should be shaming her for it. The one that should be shamed is the man who forcefully lifted her off of the ground.
No matter what your opinion might be about her model status, there is no reason to physically attack a person.
