A Gift Guide For The Beauty Lovers In Your Life

It's the most wonderful time of the year. There's Christmas trees, holiday cheer, and carolers everywhere! But with this time of the year comes big responsibility as you hustle and try to get everyone on your nice list a great gift. But there's always that one person who's hard to shop for and, sometimes, that's the beauty lover in your life.

It's hard, right? They love makeup and skincare, but you don't have a clue where to start. Or, if you do have some knowledge of the beauty department, you aren't sure what to get them since they already have a stunning collection of items. It's like Ariel and her cavern. When you're trying to give something to a girl who already has a bunch of thingamabobs, where do you even begin?

Have no fear, Odyssey readers. While I've been sporting no makeup the past few weeks, I'm kind of a makeup junkie (ask my mom and she'll tell you have I have an actual problem) and I spend a little too much time browsing the web for the latest products. So if you have a beauty lover who you're trying to shop for, you've come to the right place.

For the one whose eyeliner is always stunning

I give to you the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($19 USD). Not only is this liner the blackest liquid liner pen I've come across, it also is made up of individual brush hairs rather than a felt tip, so it's super easy to get a crisp, clean line every time. No stress, no mess. Keep your liner on fleek, ladies.

For the one who rocks the natural look

It's pretty well-known by now that Urban Decay makes the best nude palettes (shout out to the original Naked palette. We still love you, girl). Personally, my favorite is the Naked 2 ($54 USD) as it compliments a bunch of different skin tones and has the best black shadow that Urban Decay has ever come out with (I love to use it as a powder eyeliner for a softer look).

For the one obsessed with skincare

Peter Thomas Roth is an amazing skincare brand and they've just come out with this limited edition Just Mask It ($25 USD) set that contains three of their most popular face masks: one to hydrate, one to detoxify the skin, and another to repair. What's not to love about this skincare trio?

For the one who loves va-va-voom lashes

How can I even explain how amazing this mascara is? Too Faced was correct when they said it was Better Than Sex ($23 USD). Not only does it give the lashes some serious volume, it's separates and thickens the lashes as well without getting clumpy. It's such an amazing mascara for girls with naturally thick lashes and 'not-really-there' lashes alike. There's also a travel sized version if you're more of a 'try before you buy' kind of gal. Trust me, I am too.

For the one who always smells lovely

Marc Jacobs knows what he's doing when it comes to fragrances. Daisy is one of the sweetest, most delicate fragrances that fellow collegiate students could wear. I personally love it and I know that a lot of my friends love other Marc Jacobs fragrances. Why not give this gorgeous Daisy Rollerball Trio ($45 USD) to the scent lover in your life? Everyone should smell fabulous.

For the one who loves brushes (or who needs a great starting set!)

I don't have this particular set shown above, but I love all of the Real Techniques brushes that I do own. They're amazing quality (all synthetic hair for you vegan makeup lovers out there) and they're affordable with prices ranging from $6-$49. You're guaranteed to find brushes for any budget with this brand.

For the one you still can't decide for

Despite all the searching and great ideas, there will always be that beauty lover who's picky and is pretty hard to shop for. No fear, though! While giving gift cards is somewhat frowned upon these days, I think there's a specific exception for beauty lovers.

Some of us just have specific products in mind or have picky taste. There's nothing wrong with that! While personally picking a gift for your makeup junkie is great, sometimes it's best to go with a gift card to their favorite makeup store, whether that be Sephora, Ulta, or even Target (because there's nothing wrong with drugstore makeup).

Get shopping, beauty lovers! Have a great holiday season. May your eyeliner look flawless and your lipstick never smudge.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
