The holiday season is a time of giving right? That's what I've always been taught, but it's not just about giving to your friends or family, and it's not just about giving gifts or donating money. There are so many ways you can bring others joy. I've noticed with myself as well as others that we doubt the impact we have. We think if we can just donate a million dollars, then our donations or acts of kindness don't truly count.
One of the biggest acts of kindness I think someone can show to others is positivity. Maybe it's cliché, but it's also true. You can never truly know what is going on is someone's life. Regardless, just radiating positivity can make a true difference in someone's day. Just a nice comment on Facebook or being kind to those around and you and reminding people that you care can matter a great deal. Yeah, yeah you've heard this before, and so have I, but really, take a step back and think about when you're having a terrible day and how refreshing is to just have a stranger smile at you or friends remind you are awesome. It makes a difference and is one of the easiest things you can do.
Kindness is absolutely contagious. I was inspired to share it because it was shared with me by a friend who was delivering cookies in exchange for a donation to the ASPCA, or donating eight dollars to a goody bag that will be given to homeless people in the area. She mentioned she keeps little bags in her car ready to go whenever she sees someone is the need. If you travel through a large city, you are no stranger to people in need, so having something as simple as a little bag of socks and little helpful useful items can really come in handy. Utilize what you love and have around you to share the holiday cheer.
Find an outlet to give back to others
The reason I've written about personal topics is because somewhere out there, someone like me needs to hear that it's all going to be OK. That, although this world is flawed, there is always hope, and although there is plenty of negativity out there, there are also people who never cease to amaze me with the generosity they show. Spread the love, turn off the phones and love your neighbor.
