The holiday season is upon us! What do you get the pregnant woman in your life? Well, we're not all the same, but some gifts are better thought out than others. Here are some common things that pregnant women want for a gift.
1. Pregnancy Pillow
Sleeping can be tough as you get further along. You're not supposed to lay on your back, and laying on your stomach gets impractical. Let alone, comfort may be hard to find if you have little support. Cue pillows to help support you in the right places. Pillows range from cheap to over $100 and come in different shapes and sizes. This will be one item that is sure to get used, even if it means her significant other may be pushed off of the bed.
2. Gift Card for Maternity Clothes and Items
Maternity clothes are expensive, but for most women they are a necessity. She may not have enough money to get more than a few shirts, skimping on other basics. If you happen to have maternity clothes lying around from a past pregnancy, let her borrow these. If you are wanting to go the new route, a gift card ensures that she can try on whatever clothes that fit her changing frame.
3. Massage
One fact about pregnancy. Every inch of your body feels sore. If ever was the time to splurge on a massage, this is it. Some places even offer special prenatal massages. A gift card, a massage from you, or a surprise trip to the spa would all probably be appreciated.
4. Beauty Pampering
We could use a good manicure or pedicure. Heck, even a foot soak sounds awesome! If this is a bit out of your price range (I've only had two manicures in my entire life), maybe offer to give her a little TLC yourself by painting her nails, giving a foot rub, etc.
5. Maternity Lingere (from partners only)
This could obviously become awkward if given from the wrong person. The reason why I suggest this is because many women face body and confidence issues while pregnant. Get her something that will make her feel beautiful. This doesn't have to be kinky or overtly sexual. It could be a nightgown, robe, etc. Just as long as it reminds her that she doesn't need to hide her beautiful growing frame under a tshirt.
6. Sweets (or whatever else mama is craving)
Disclaimer: Make sure that A) she wants whatever food you get her (just because it looks good to you doesn't mean it won't nauseate her) and B) that she can have whatever food you get.
7. Offer to make some food or help her with chores.
For some women, the smell of food while cooking is a trigger for nausea. Some women are just worn out after a day of work (or school) and growing a mini-human. Make her some freezer meals, help her run some errands, or offer to catch her up on household chores (especially those that would require her to bend down). The best gifts don't have to cost a dime.
