By the time this is published, Christmas will have passed and Hanukkah may be nearly over, I know. BUT as this is the Christmas gift I am giving out this year, I can't really write a tutorial on it and spoil the whole thing. If you still need to get people gifts or want one of these for yourself, here you go!
So this is based on a Pinterest project I found while looking for a Christmas gift that was relatively cheap, easy to make, and could be mass produced (I made 24 of these bad boys). The pin was for making snowman tealight ornaments but we have enough ornaments and I decided to make details of my own which were not shown in the Pinterest tutorial. This was just my method, feel free to experiment!
First, you'll need the following supplies:
LED Tea Lights (make sure the light is yellow or orange!)
Black Sharpie
Silver Sharpie
Black Fabric (personally, I used a felt-like material!)
Fabric Glue
Scissors
Paintbrush
Red Puffy Paint
Green Puffy Paint
Red Acrylic Paint (or any color really!)
Now, to actually make these little things, I started off with the hat for the snowman.
I cut the fabric into a top hat shape like so:
Then, I used the silver Sharpie to make a band that looked like a ribbon.
Followed by green puffy paint to form holly leaves!
I let the hat sit until the next day because I was scared to mess it up. So while that dried, I went to work on the actual candles!
Using the black Sharpie, I drew two dots for the eyes and four dots for the smile around the light part of the candle.
Then, on the other side I painted a heart with the acrylic paint as a bit of a signature! (Feel free to make your own symbol!)
So this and the holly leaves were left to dry overnight! (You could probably wait less time but I am a cautious person.)
The following day, I used the red puffy paint to make the holly berries. This was probably the hardest part, to make sure the berries were distinct and rounded.
After allowing this a few hours to dry (again, being cautious), I used fabric glue to stick the hat to the candle. And voila!
It's so cute! These would be an acceptable gift for anyone really and if this specific design isn't your cup of tea (see what I did there) you can make your own! Check it out when lit up!
I hope whatever holidays you celebrate were/are great! Happy Holidays!
