October is finally right around the corner, which means fall, sweaters, warm drinks, and Halloween. My absolute favorite part about October is Halloween and all the creepy ghost stories and such that come with it. As I stated before in other articles, I'm a big believer in ghosts, spirits, etc. What's a better time to write about some ghost stories than right now? Here are a few I've researched within the area I currently live. Some I've been to, some I haven't, but I definitely recommend you make a trip to visit.
In Coal Grove, Ohio, there sits a cemetery called The Woodland Cemetery. This cemetery contains more than eight thousand graves, but does this also mean it may contain just as many ghosts?
Antoinette Peters, known as "Teenie", was a ballerina who settled in Ironton, Ohio. She was in a tragic car accident which caused her death, so her body and some of her most valuable possessions were put into a mausoleum. Shortly after her funeral, her mausoleum was broken into by vandals, and they selfishly stole the valuables inside. They even went so far as to cut off her fingers to steal the rings she was wearing. It is said that on nights with a full moon if you pay close enough attention sometimes she can be seen dancing just outside of her mausoleum.
There's also a statue of a woman descending down some stairs over a grave. The woman who lies under this grave had been in an abusive relationship while she was alive. It is said that she had gotten into an argument with her husband while she was also pregnant, and he hit her so hard that she fell down a flight of stairs and died instantly. He somehow managed to get out of murder charges and had the statue made to show and honor his "undying love" to her. If you visit this grave at any time of the day no matter what season it is, the stomach on her statue is ALWAYS warm! I didn't believe this when I first heard it, so I gave the statue a visit in the middle of winter to see for myself. It was warm.
In Russell, Kentucky, there's a huge abandoned building that sits right beside the railroad tracks. It's so old that it's practically falling apart. Not many people know about this place and what walks the halls and such inside, but it's one of the scariest places I have ever been to in my life. Even if you don't believe in ghosts, the feeling you get when you first pull up in front of it is something that cannot even be explained. It used to be a hotel for the railroad workers years and years ago and it's also believed to be the old YMCA; most people call it "The Old Y". This place is so haunted that if you just sit there quietly, listening to and paying attention to everything that's going on around you, you can hear things happening. It's insane. Inside are collapsed walls, glass, dirt, old belongings, and creepy spray-painted symbols and names all over the walls. There are phrases on the walls before doorways that read "too far turn back", "don't go any further", "watch out", and more. This place is the real deal and I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to get any real ghost hunters to take a look yet.
The Clown Takeover
Okay, clowns, what the actual hell. We get it, you're here, you're scary and we're afraid, what do you want? A couple weeks ago I read an article from down in Alabama saying how they had a clown epidemic. I laughed and thought 'silly kids' That's until local news started picking up encounters of clowns within the tri-state area. These clowns are vicious and will stop at nothing, and I mean nothing. Forcing schools to shut down due to safety concerns of students and staff. So what's their motive? Do they even have one? So far the sightings have mostly been in the Midwest region of The United States and seem to be multiplying by the day. There has only been one report of a clown going too far and that was in Cincinnati last week when a clown choke-held a woman right around sunrise. So essentially it's like gambling, if you run into one of these clowns know your chances might be 50/50, you might get away or you might just be like Cindy Woohoo over here getting choked to death.
So my questions for you clowns is this. Why? What is your purpose? Did the crazy train derail somewhere in Ohio? Do y'all need a ride back to hell? I mean let me help you here, I'm sure we can work something out that doesn't involve my painful death, right?
My advice, run like hell when you see or hear the honks of a clown. It could literally be life or death y'all. Things are getting real spooky and it's only the first week of October. This is going to be one interesting month.
