The month of September has ended, and October has arrived. Of course, we were already getting for the upcoming Autumn season - thanks to all of the department stores. It gets us excited about the upcoming holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. There is so much to enjoy about this season.

Whenever the seasons change, you always know from the smell in the air. For Autumn, it smells like pumpkin pie lattes, freshly fallen leaves, and warm apple pie. It seems like everywhere you go it smells so heavenly that it helps you forget about all of the worries in your life. There is a sense of peace in the air.

Autumn is popular because of all of the vibrant colors. The changing colors for the trees is very popular. The reds, oranges, and yellows makes you feel as if you are lost in a different world. Pumpkins are also in season. They can decorate any outdoor and indoor space. They are also great for the upcoming holidays.

Fall brings Halloween and Thanksgiving. This means that the stores are filled with festive home décor, which can be a lot of fun using around the house. Halloween brings jack-o'-lanterns which leads to a big, fun mess. Faces come alive when the seeds are scooped out and shapes are cut out of the side. Jack-o'-lanterns bring out personalities that range from a happy snowman to an angry, triangle-eyed monster. Movies that are only on during this season are now on every channel. There is Hocus Pocus, It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and of course, Beetlejuice. These movies make us laugh, both at the characters, and how we come to realize that they are not as scary as we thought they were when we were little.

Thanksgiving is a time for a themed-colored household. Burnt red flowers are in the middle of the kitchen table, bright orange pumpkins are upon the entertainment center, and rosemary is used in every dish. Thanksgiving is a time to remember all of the blessing that each of us has. Somehow, the colors and décor have magical powers which help remind us of all our blessings.

Autumn also brings about fall clothing. Layers, layers, layers become the overall theme when getting ready in the morning. This doesn't mean heavy coats just yet, but it does mean sweaters, boots, and scarfs. Fall clothing also has a vibrant color pallet. The oranges and reds are again very popular, but you also see maroons, burgundys, and deep purples. Flannel shirts are a must during the Autumn season. They go with everything and are perfect when you want to have a coffee outside while watching the leaves fall.

Pastries become a necessity during the fall season. Maple, pumpkin, cinnamon, and sweet apples are the flavors that are craved whenever you walk past a coffee shop. It is also the time to start baking again. It is cold enough outside so baking becomes a must; that way the house also stays warm. Apple pie, pumpkin muffins, and chocolate chip cookies are some of the most popular deserts to bake, but it is also the season where they are a must. Apple cider is the perfect drink, especially when it is hot with cinnamon.

Fall is the beginning to the holiday season and it brings color to the world. Pumpkin becomes the favorite household décor and warm apple pie is the choice dessert. What is not to love about autumn?

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
