It is quite ironic that I'm writing this because in no way, shape, or form do I have my own life together. It is a miracle if I can go through one week without an emotional breakdown. This is all making you think that I'm a reliable source on how to get your life together, right? Great. I may not have my sh*t together, but what 21 year-old does? Very few. However, there are three main areas of life that need to be focused on in order to make progress:
1. Your Relationships
We all have a number of acquaintances, friends, family, coworkers, and other human beings that we interact with on a daily basis. How close we are with these people varies. What also varies is the type of energy that they bring into our lives. There are those people that drain and exhaust us. They exude negative energy. These are exactly the same people that you do not need in your life. They are the same ones that are emotionally draining you. These types of relationships are only detrimental. It is okay to cut people out of your life. It does not always need to end in a dramatic, terrible fashion. Just don't spend time with people that are not in some way benefiting your life. There are those relationships that are extremely beneficial, though. It is important to always let those people know how much they mean to you.
2. Your Environment
Are you in a place that makes you happy? Is your room cluttered? Mine always is (whoops). Do you feel stuck? Perhaps changing your environment is the change of pace that you need. It seems pretty simple, but a simple act like cleaning your room, changing where your bed is in your room, or adding/removing decor are all ways that you can get a clean start. It is also a step towards getting your life together. This is a quick fix to a fresh start.
3. Your Attitude
I feel like this is the most important element. Are you waking up with a positive attitude that invites the new day or are you dreading the morning? I often catch myself falling into the latter category. It is oftentimes a matter of tricking yourself into a positive attitude. When you catch yourself thinking negatively, stop. Change your perspective. Start over. You may have to do this what feels like a million times a day, but eventually, it can become a habit and then reality. Good vibes only. Don't allow yourself to be miserable; try to prevent it.
