The holidays are here! Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Years Eve/New Years Day are upon us. What are you doing for your holidays?
If your answer is "nothing special," or anything along those lines, there are solutions.
Get excited! The holidays can be so fun, memorable, and warm & fuzzy. There's time to spend with your families and friends, close and loved ones. Get out there and make some plans!
Otherwise, here are some things that you can do to get yourself into the lively spirit of the holidays.
1. Decorate your house, apartment home, or bedroom.

In stores right now, there are crazy good deals on holiday decorations. Even in Target, there are tons of cute little trinkets and colorful lights for darn cheap. You can find that stuff in their dollar section.
If you can't afford to go out and purchase decorations, move to Pinterest and look up DIYs for Christmas decorations. Pinterest is full of ideas, inspiration, recipes, and Do-It-Yourself projects that are quick, easy, fun and cute!
2. Do some baking with your loved ones and closest friends.

Baking is always the right answer. Decorating cookies, gingerbread or frosting cupcakes and pastries are not only fun and pass time, but once they're done, you can enjoy them and they'll taste delicious. Cookies and gingerbread always excite the taste buds.
Decorating gingerbread houses are also a super fun route to take. After documenting your beautiful creation, you can enjoy it for days to come, tearing off every candy cane, gumdrop and candy piece that you used to build a warm, welcoming home for a gingerbread.
3. Dress the holiday part.
Ugly sweaters, leggings, boots, knitted caps, scarves, and fuzzy socks are big fashion staples in the late Fall/Winter. Fashionable and chic.
Doing a cute little clothing photoshoot with your friends can spice up your Instagram and Twitter feed this year. Because who doesn't want to take pictures in cute and comfy clothes while looking the part?
Grab that red Starbucks coffee cup, your iPhone and your aesthetic monogrammed or ugly sweater and pose in front of backdrops with your girlfriends. Smile and take tons of candid photos. You're bound to look good at every angle. Post them and use a hashtag, and then search the hashtag on social media. You can also get a ton of ideas and inspiration for photos with your winter clothes by searching the hashtag and seeing other's ideas!
4. Put on the classic Christmas movies.

Hallmark has a series of holiday movies that are classics, and really bring the Christmas spirit with them. Even Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strips became films involving Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock and friends. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is an oldie but a goodie along with Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". They never get old. Make a movie night out of your holidays this year and invite all of your friends over for a Christmas movie marathon. It's sure to get you into the spirits. Bring along your decorated cookies and cupcakes and cozy up on the couch with scented candles, windows propped open for the cool air, and endless amounts of blankets.
5. Go driving through your neighborhood and look at Christmas lights.

Around mid to late November, you'll notice Christmas lights and festive decorations in people's front lawns. Get up in the evening, hop into the car, and take a slow stroll through your neighborhood and areas around you to gawk at all of the wonderful Christmas lights around you. It's so much nicer to look at than pure darkness.
In some areas, there are light shows that you can drive through, pay a small fee for, tune your radio station into, and experience an awesome show full of synchronized lights and music. Having been through one myself, I can say that the experience is amazing and is full of lots of photographs. A real holiday experience, this is a super fun and spontaneous option.
Now that you've got some ideas, get up off your booty and go enjoy your holidays. It's your time to breathe, have a mental break and relax with your friends, family and loved ones. Now is the time, when memories are so vulnerable to be made and smiles are so bound to happen.
