Sports are all fun and games, until someone gets hurt. Getting injured in your sports season sucks and can feel like the end of the world. You go through phases, and who can explain it better than The Office?
1. Getting the actual injury
Getting injured hurts like a bitch. The pain is horrible and you can't believe that it actually happened and all you want to do is scream. You don't care where you are or what you were just doing you can only focus on the Hell that is going on in your body.
2. Not wanting to accept that you're hurt
No athlete wants to be injured, so you enter the first stage-denial. You're whole life is sports and you can't fathom the fact that you aren't able to play anymore. This stage lasts a while because no one wants to accept that one part of their body doesn't work anymore.
3. Getting angry at the body part you injured
The next stage is anger. You're stuck in bed or can't carry shit and there's just so much frustration. You yell at your body, you cry, you yell at others because you feel like they're babying you.
4. All the x-rays
This isn't even a stage but anyone that's had an injury knows how cool it is to see all the x-rays.
5. Realizing you don't have to work out
The last step is acceptance. You realize that there is some good that can come out of this, like the fact that you don't have to workout for a while! You also have all these people worried about you and see who really cares about you.
6. Lastly, When you're finally better
Being cleared by your doctor to return back to everyday things is the best words you have ever heard someone say. Yeah you have physical therapy and aren't physically where you were before but you're just so happy to have your body back to normal.
