Trust Me, If You're Debating Having An Internship In College You Should 100 Percent Do It

I know what you're probably thinking, why should I get an internship while in college when I already have so much on my plate? Or that you're already so busy, you don't see yourself having any time to commit to yet another thing. Well, let me tell you why I think having an internship while in college is important.

Internships can help prepare you for your future career if you get an internship in the field you want to potentially work in. Getting an internship in the field you want to work in can help you gain the experience needed for jobs.

They also help you learn valuable skills needed in the workplace that you can only learn and receive through on the job experience, such as communication skills, problem-solving skills, how to work with clients, and time management skills.

Internships are also important because they can give you some sort of structure while you are in college dealing with so many stressful situations. They can also help you figure out how to navigate through those situations that you don't know how to workaround.

Internships can also be a good resume booster and look good to future employers. They can give you a good networking experience and allow you to meet different job prospects. And help you develop and establish deeper connections.

Internships also allow you to learn more about yourself. They encourage personal development and a greater understanding of your goals and how you can best achieve them. And help you figure out what you like and what you don't like.

They help you transition into a full-time position. If you have never worked a full-time position before, going from part-time to full-time can be overwhelming and difficult to do. Internships helo the transition be more smooth. They help you learn how a professional workplace operates and gain professional feedback on how you can better yourself and your work ethic.

So if you're debating about doing an internship while in college, just do one, trust me, it will be worth it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
