Get Your Act Together, Greeks

Hi there, readers. We got some great advice coming your way this week.

Thanks for all the questions, but don’t forget to keep em’ coming! Send your questions to scott201@purdue.edu or (317)979-1026.

Dear Claire and Abby,

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for a few months now and things are getting pretty serious. My problem is that his parents just absolutely hate me and I don’t know why. I’ve never been disrespectful and I try to get on their good side whenever I see them, but they make awkward comments to me about how they don’t want him to be dating anyone and direct personal jabs at me. It makes me so uncomfortable, because I really like this guy and I don’t know how to change their minds about me.

            Sincerely, Parental Probz

Dear Parental Probz,

Parents always love us, so this is a tricky question for us to answer. Ask your boyfriend why they hate you. You must be doing SOMETHING wrong. Maybe you are rude to them and don’t realize it. Or maybe your clothes are a few sizes too small. Just get the lowdown from your bf and then start acting more like us.

            Sincerely, Abby and Claire

Dear Claire and Abby,

My girlfriend and I have been pretty serious for a while now and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. But her best friend constantly hits on me when she isn’t looking. Her friend whispers flirty things in my ear and sometimes gets pretty touchy-feely. It makes me uncomfortable, but I don’t want to tell my girlfriend and ruin their friendship. What do I do to make her get her paws off me?

            Sincerely, Freaky Friend

Dear Freaky Friend,

You should sit this girl down and have a conversation with her. Tell her she needs to back up and that if you had any kind of feelings for her you wouldn’t be dating her best friend. Just set her up with one of your desperate friends so she takes her eyes off you. Double dates are fun.

            Sincerely, Claire and Abby

Dear Claire and Abby,

I am an average girl but my sister is literally perfect. She has a great body and beautiful face and everyone loves her. My parents are always comparing me to her and hinting to me to be more like her by working out more and losing weight. My mom literally calls me fat and asks why I am not more like my sister. It’s really starting to hurt my feelings and it makes me resent my sister.

            Sincerely, Hefty Hannah

Dear Hefty Hannah,

At the end of the day, looks aren’t everything. Hopefully you’re at least funny or have a decent personality, because that’s what really matters. I mean, look at us. We aren’t quite dime pieces, but we’re kinda funny sometimes so it’s okay.

            Sincerely, Claire and Abby

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
