I Get By (With A Little Help From My Friends)

From the highest points to the lowest, what matters the most is always the people around us.

It's crazy how quickly things change. One day you're on top of the world; you just graduated high school and you're on your way to college feeling like you have it all figured out. Three months later, you've failed three classes, dropped two of them, changed your major, ended an unhealthy relationship, restarted the same relationship, ended it again, and found yourself in the hospital after having an anxiety attack.

Since that roller-coaster of a first semester two years ago, my college experience has been a bit closer to normal. That said, there are highs and lows not just in every semester, but in every month, week, and day of our lives. What I've found that matters the most during the both the highs and the lows is not where you are, what you're wearing, or how much money is on your debit card. What matters the most is the people you've surrounded yourself with and the relationships that you've made along the way.

That is why this week, I simply want to say thank you to all the family and friends (and doctors) who have surrounded me over these past few years. Today, as I manage my fairly decent GPA, serve as vice president of my fraternity, and raise a tiny kitten a friend found on the street, I recognize I am in a far better place than I was freshman year. Although I realize that I'm nowhere near "having it all figured out," I'd just like to thank all the people who have helped me along the way and will continue to help as time goes on.

To anybody who finds themselves in a low point today -- reach out to those who care about you, even if it means swallowing your pride. To anybody who finds themselves in high point today -- enjoy every second, and thank the people who've helped you get there.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
