Get To Know Your PINK Reps At UC!

To most female college students, the word “pink” probably has one of two meanings; the actual color itself, or Victoria's Secret PINK. Their brand, whether it’s the signature PINK logo or the infamous dog, is recognized all around the world. Here at the University of Cincinnati, you’ve undoubtedly seen girls wearing PINK gear. You may have also seen girls wearing PINK and handing out free PINK swag. Those girls are part of the PINK Campus Representative Program, and they work directly with the brand to bring PINK to UC.

Christine Hamilton (pictured second from the right below) is a senior at UC studying Communication Science and Disorders and is one of two PINK Reps here on campus. Before becoming a Rep, Christine, also involved in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Chapter at UC, started as a member of the PINK Campus Street Team. She explains why she’s continued to work with PINK for 2.5 years:

"From my experience, I would describe the life of a PINK Rep as fun and exciting! We are always meeting new people, learning about and trying a new PINK product, and spreading our knowledge and love for the brand!"

A PINK Rep does so much more than just hand out freebies and talk to students. These women gain so much personal and professional experience, as well as having the opportunity constantly engage with new people and form new relationships.

"Being a PINK Rep has taught me so much about working with others. There have been so many great networking opportunities over this past year that I would not have been exposed to if it wasn’t for PINK. Being a PINK Rep has also helped me with [life skills] such as responsibility, prioritizing, and staying organized."

Christine has had the opportunity to work with so many different groups and communities on UC's campus, and see how they impact the university itself.

"As a brand, PINK focuses on the life and experiences of a typical college student. Therefore, we love that both campus organizations are so powerful and inspiring for UC’s young women!"

Christine has gained so many positive memories and experiences from being a Campus Rep, but some stand out to her more than others. She said, "The greatest thing about being a PINK Rep has been sharing our love of the brand! We get so excited about a new product and are always so eager to share it with other students. One thing that I really love about PINK is how they put so much emphasis on key events in a college [girl's] life, such as back to school and spring break! It has been so fun seeing and meeting girls around campus who all love PINK as much as we do!"

Are you interested in becoming a PINK Campus Rep? PINK is currently searching for applicants who are looking to make a difference in the UC PINK community!

"If you are applying to be a PINK Rep, be ready for an experience of a lifetime! Although it can be a lot of work at times, it is such a fun and exciting experience to be in charge of something as big as representing PINK at your school! Enjoy it!!" Apply now to start your journey into the PINK Campus Rep world! If you are nervous and need some advice, Christine has a few words of wisdom for those applying; "[Focus] on the college girl’s love [for] PINK and how important PINK is to [their] wardrobe to wear around campus, to class, and on game day!"

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. 7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.
