Get To Know Me: Davita Marie

Double trouble ft. Davita & June

Well this isn't technically something I think most people write on here, but I feel that it would be nice for you guys to know a little bit about me

1. My legal name is Davita.

I didn't know my name was Davita until kindergarten when my teacher called my parents saying I didn't show up to class. My parents then told her to call me June and I responded. People of the Thai culture have their legal names and their nicknames, but usually go by their nickname on a day to day basis.

2. I'm an Alien.

I was born in Thailand. I moved to the United States when I was about three and a half years old. I lived in Thailand and Singapore, and then moved here.

3. Eyebrows.

If my eyebrows aren't done, I will most likely be in a bad mood and you may think I'm the worst person in the world. Nothing personal against you if you catch me on a day I don't have my eyebrows on. I'm sorry in advance.

4. Self taught Face & Body Painter.

Most of my posts on here will involve makeup, face painting, and things along the lines of anything artsy and health related. So if it isn't what you'd be interested in, then you probably won't enjoy my posts.

5. I have way too much makeup for the average person.

I guess that's what making YouTube videos does to you. Also, while working, you want to be able to look presentable, and I can't stick to the same look unless I'm in a rush and I just do my go to look.

6. I have a YouTube channel.

I make all kinds of videos. From music to makeup to face painting to just random videos. I wish I had more time to film though. **If you guys have any video requests, let me know!**

7. I use my Legal name & middle name for all my social media.

It makes it easier to remember and keeps it easy for people to find me on any platform. Only site that isn't Davita_Marie is my Tumblr. Originally because I wanted to keep that personal and didn't really use it often enough to want to gain followers on it.

8. I don't run, I lift.

I've never been a runner. In fact, I hate it. I'll walk all day if I need to get somewhere on foot. I'll give myself a ton of time to walk, because if I'm cutting it close on time, I'll be late. In this situation, running is out of the question. However, if you take me to the gym and tell me to lift, I'll lift. Given, I'm no crazy lifter, I have my injuries, but I use lifting to help me "fix" my injuries. I still have weak cartilage around my knees as well as tendinitis, but I've gotten to leg press 360 pounds as my max.

9. I'm a huge nerd.

Comic Con? Yes. All my people in one place.

10. I enjoy acting and photography as well.

Although I don't think I'd make acting or photography my career, it's something I enjoy doing in my free time along with my face painting. There's just so much to these that are ways for me to express myself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
