One of the most common features about Halloween is the scare factor. How scary is your costume, how scary is that haunted house, how scary are your decorations. Or even marathoning scary movies till you become paranoid that the monsters are coming for you next. People love to be scared. It gives them an adrenaline rush, a high that makes them look for more.
Halloween is the perfect time for people to get scared all they want, in any way they want. Haunted houses pop up everywhere and here in Michigan, we've got plenty to choose from. Personally, I've never seen the appeal of getting the shit scared out of you but I know plenty of people that live for visiting haunted houses or watching scary movies. And nowadays there are more than just the simple, standard haunted houses. You have haunted hay rides and intense haunted houses that you have to sign waivers just to get into.
And let's not even go into the clowns that seem to multiply this time of the year. I'm not even going to touch that one. Nope. Not gonna happen. Moving on.
Scary movies are made year round but they really only seem essential around Halloween. Their themes and motifs leading to new costume ideas or new areas for a haunted house. And what's a better way to get scared then watching scary movie after scary movie? That thrill scary movies give you when something jumps out of the shadows or a person's head rotates like owls. Your heart starts racing and you find yourself holding your breath. That scare factor that seems to come alive around Halloween.
It's an essential part of the month. To be scared or not to be scared. What are you gonna pick? Running away from psycho clowns with bloody axes or sitting in the comfort of your own home with horror flicks playing on the tv? It's Halloween, get scared.
