Well, the holidays are over and all the excitement and fun of the season is over. The cold, dreary weather, excess of food from the holidays, and spending too much time indoors can lead us to be sluggish and somewhat depressed. We’re in the midst of winter, but I believe that’s no reason to despair. Here’s some things to do to get out of those January blues:
1. Exercise
Exercise and getting active is very important in helping cheer you up in this cold month. Just a little bit of physical activity can help you feel happier and healthier. Scientific studies have suggested that physical activity has the potential to not only be beneficial physically, but also emotionally and intellectually as well.
2. Get some sleep
You can’t feel good if you’re always tired. It’s dark outside, so why not go to bed early and catch some sleep to help you feel refreshed and energized for the day ahead. Of course, you don’t want to stay in bed all the time, but sleep is necessary and healthy for the body. Besides, it’s not like you can go frolic in the frigid temperatures.
3. Reconnect
Find some old school friends on Facebook or maybe go visit an old buddy and reminisce. Friendship and companionship are crucial to staying healthy in more ways than one. They can also be really helpful getting you out of a rut.
4. Find an activity you enjoy
While you’re stuck inside, it’s a great time to discover or rediscover an activity you might enjoy. Maybe you like collecting stamps or maybe you really enjoy reading…whatever it is, delve into it with some passion and you’ll probably feel a lot better.
5.Get out of the house
I know it’s cold, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to just mope around the house all day. Get outside (if only for a little bit and get some good old fresh air)! It will definitely help.
