Every wrestling fan owes a huge thank you to WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and HBO. The two are teaming up to make a documentary on one of the wrestling industry's greatest, Andre Roussimoff, or more commonly known as Andre the Giant. Andre earned his nickname as he stood at 7'4" and weighed nearly 520 pounds.
There isn't a set date, yet, but the film is said to be focusing on Andre's upbringing in France and his career in both WWE and the films industry. It has also been rumored that many of the wrestlers he worked with in his WWE career will be telling stories of the good ol' days in wrestling.
Vince McMahon released a statement to Rolling Stone saying that, "For more than 20 years, Andre the Giant's larger than life personality and unique charisma captured the imagination of fans around the world." This still rang true, even after his death in 1993. To this day, he is looked at as a role model and an icon in the wrestling world. I remember watching old VHS tapes that had matches between Andre and Hulk Hogan. Their rivalry was quite possibly one of the biggest in WWF (World Wrestling Federation, now known as WWE) at the time and is said to be a recurring topic in the documentary.
With all of this in mind, the only thing we can do is sit back and wait while we troll the internet for more details to be released from either HBO or WWE. Now, 24 years after his death, the WWF superstar will finally have his story told. Just like Andre, this documentary is for sure going to be larger than life.
