10 Ways To Get Ready For Spring

Hello lovely readers! As we’ve been seeing warmer weather, it has me thinking about the arrival of spring. So, what does that mean? It’s time to de-clutter our spaces and open our hearts to the rest of our new year! So here are ten things to do to get ready for spring!

1. Clean out those closets.

It’s time for a change, and that means whether it’s a shoe closet, coat closet, or your main closet, some of it needs to go! So get in there and if you can’t remember the last time you wore it or can’t see yourself wearing it, get rid of it!

2. Give it to the people who need it.

Now this part is important! Just because you have no need for it anymore, if it’s still in good shape, someone else can more than likely use it! So take it to your local shelter or give it to family as hand me downs. It will bring you joy to see someone else get the use out of it that you may not have.

3. Clean your house.

Now when I say this, I don’t mean just dust. Take the time to deep clean, and when you finish, it will look like a brand new home and hopefully smell like it to!

4. Get outside.

As a childcare employee, I have tons of kids who say that they want to go home and play on their electronics. Make sure to get yourself or your kids out in this warmer weather! Find a park to walk at, play catch, or swing on a playground. It’s a great family or friend activity and will help you get a little exercise too!

5. Work hard.

For a lot of us, spring can only mean one thing; summer is next! So take this time to buckle down in your classes, your job, your sport, etc. You will feel the effects of this when you get your report card, paycheck, or stats. This will also help summer come faster if you’re no longer spending your days counting down! But if you can fit a nap in there, DO IT.

6. Make that change.

Is there something that you’ve been dreaming of trying out for a while now? Don’t wait even longer and spend the time wishing you had done it. I know it seems like it’s never the right time, but if you think that way, it never will be. Do it now.

7. Find a new hobby.

So there isn’t a specific dream for you; start from scratch! Start a garden, cut back on sweets, read a book a month, join a club. Find a hobby that speaks to your heart and keep it up!

8. Visit your family.

Some of us live in different cities, states, or even countries. Don’t let that stop you! It’s important to spend time with these people, they are a part of you, wiser than you, and love you; don’t forget your roots.

9. Change up your look.

Get a new hairstyle, paint your nails, or change your wardrobe. Even if it’s a small change, it will help you to feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of your year.

10. Take it all in.

The days continue to go quicker and quicker, so don’t take any of this time for granted. Do what makes you happiest, and don’t forget to step back and smell the flowers every once in a while.

Happy Spring!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
