Get Ready For Soca Season

Warmer weather comes bearing gifts.

It is officially sunny in Pennsylvania! Everyone is outside, playing in the grass, lounging, tanning, relaxing, and smiling. I actually wore a sundress, one of the best things about warmer weather is not being weighed down by extra pounds of sweaters and coats. This beautiful weather does something to me every year, as I'm sure it does to you too. Here are sven things the warmer weather is sure to bring us other than lighter clothing!

1. It's Carnival time!

Everyone knows around this time Carnival is near and the Soca music can be heard EVERYWHERE. Let the music, twerk sessions, and jeweled bralettes begin!

2. The grass is back!

Grass provides a soft and cool cushion outdoors compared to the dried, hard, and cold ground the winter maintains. Campus lawns across the nation are now getting sat on, rolled on, and ran across by barefooted college students. Everyone wants a little bit of sun!

3. Are you happy for no reason?

The sun is a mood booster! I don’t know how, but something about the sun’s rays on your skin just make you feel better about life. You feel ready, happy, and at peace as soon as you step outside.

4. Yes, you will have random photo-shoots outside.

Get ready because everyone will be taking pictures outside. Taking pictures in the winter can be a challenge for several reasons: first, everything outside is dead so those pictures tend to look pretty empty unless you have beautiful snow surrounding you. Second, it’s freezing so if you are taking a picture outside, it doesn’t look like you’re super comfortable. Finally, taking pictures indoors is hard because of the lighting. Well, warmer weather brings life to the trees around, it’s hot outside and you don’t mind standing to take a nice picture, and finally the sun is perfect lighting!

5. Going on beach trips.

Obvi…people have cars, people like water, and people like sand. Beaches are gonna be visited DAILY.

6. Seeking meditation and good vibes

The warmer weather slows you down in a good way; while you feel motivated, you’re also encouraged to take in the sun. There’s no chilling wind, rain, or snow making you rush indoors. Because of this you’re encouraged to meditate and pray and really take time to relax.

7. Making new commitments.

As I mentioned before, the warmer weather makes you feel motivated and ready for new challenges and experiences. Sometimes it leads you to make new commitments and start up a new task. It feels more like day time when the sun is out instead of what winter brings which are cloudy and dull days that consistently feel like evening time.
