October has finally arrived which means it's time to get pumped for Halloween! I'm sure most people can agree with this, but Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I look forward to it every year and you should to! Here are some reasons why you should get pumped for Halloween.

1. Trick-or-treating and getting candy.

Whether you're into sweet treats or chocolatey goodness, getting free candy is always a good thing. The fact that we have an entire holiday based around getting free candy is one of the beautiful things about our country.

2. Disney Halloween movies.

I'm talking 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', 'Hocus Pocus', the 'Halloweentown' Series, and all the other amazing Disney Halloween movies. Halloween is a great excuse to relive your childhood through Disney movies.

3. Horror movie marathons.

If you're not feeling Disney, there's always the scary route! Nothing says Halloween like a scary movie marathon! Horror movie marathons are so much fun, especially with friends. So invite some friends over, grab some candy, and get ready to jump in your seat.

4. Wearing costumes.

Costumes are so much fun! This is the one time a year when you can dress up as anything you want and it is completely acceptable! This is your time to shine as a sexy nurse or a zombie! Costumes just make the holiday all the more silly and fun.

5. It's the beginning of the holiday season.

The holiday season is the best time of year without a doubt and now it has finally arrived!

6. Autumn.

Fall is lit. There's hay rides, the changing of the leaves, pumpkin spice everything, it's just an all-around good time.

7. Parties.

Halloween parties are also very lit. Halloweekend is huge for us college students. I don't need to explain this one any further, parties are awesome and we all know it. So get pumped that Halloween parties are arriving!

8. Halloween cookies.

9. Decorations.

Your house, apartment, or dorm is no longer bland and lifeless. It's now covered in festive decorations! I love holiday decorations, maybe it's just me, but I think they're so much fun! Spiderwebs, skeletons, and jack o'lanterns all around is so festive and it only happens once a year!

10. Haunted houses.

Haunted houses are so much fun to go to with friends and it's not everyday that you can go to one. Halloween is the one time a year that you and your friends get to go somewhere scary and make a night out of it. It's so much fun to see you and your friends freak out over the zombie that popped out at you.

11. It's one of the best holidays!

I know this is an opinion, but it's true! Halloween is one of the most exciting and fun holidays. It kicks off the holiday season, you get free candy, there's parties, and you get to wear costumes. It doesn't get much better than that.

I hope everyone reading has an amazing Halloween and holiday season! Stay safe, have fun, and get pumped!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
