You may have been searching and searching for the perfect place to see the sunset or go on a hiking trip, but little did you know all of this is available at your finger tips.
Your phone offers so much information; people just don't use it correctly. Instead of playing Pokemon Go or stuck on social media for negative reasons, you can use your cellular device to get in touch with nature. As counterproductive as that sounds, it can help immensely. Just a quick research can guide you back to the roots.
As you are ready to take on the world in your athletic hiking clothes and the sticky, strong bug spray is marinaded in your body, you whip out your phone. The sun is beating down on you through the window, you are patiently waiting in the car for an adventure. You type into your phone, "forest preserves near me" and more than 100,000 results are shown. You don't even know where to start looking. You finally find a place that settles your hiking needs and proceed to turn off your phone and toss in a bag; never looking at it again for the rest of the day.
These are the types of days we should be having; not days full of looking down and missing the world around you. Or days were people are getting frustrated because they didn't get very many retweets or likes or whatever. This is not what life is about. Life is about expanding our horizons, loving others for who they are, and exploring our beautiful earth. We need to use our phones for good.
Nowadays, people are tied to their phones and it causes so much negativity. They dwell over how many likes they received and how many comments were good ones. Unfortunately, people compare themselves and it can have a huge impact on their lives. That should not be happening; we should become inspired by others and it shouldn't matter how many likes someone gets because they are enough no matter what. Today, we all should realize how much being on our phones influences our daily lives and how much time we are wasting.
I know I am a culprit to the stigma of always being on my phone but I want to change that. I am personally trying to eliminate the amount of time I spend on my phone and increase the amount of time outside or with friends and family. It may be hard to let it go but you will see how much your day to day life will be altered.
We need to use our phones for well being of all and spread positivity, that is the goal. With our phones we can do that; but there needs to be a limit. We simply need to be aware of our actions and get wild outside. Please remember that you have the power to control your time on your phone and that adventure is out there!
