Summer is here. The weather is (mostly) warm, the skies are (hopefully) clear, and it's a beautiful day. There are so many things to do besides sit inside all day. Trust me, I am definitely one for an awesome video game, but adventuring will always win in my eyes. Grab your closest friends, a few backpacks, this list, and get out there!
1. Go to a trampoline park.
Trampoline parks are so underrated, but so much fun. You get a special pair of socks and an allotted time slot and get to spend it on different kinds of trampolines. Gymnast trampolines, dodgeball, and even basketball are just a few kinds of the things you can do at trampoline parks. Trust me, an hour or two might not seem too long before you get to jumping. However, update me around a half an hour later and I'm sure your opinion will change.
2. Go to a parkour park.
Similar to a trampoline park...without the trampolines... Good luck!
Be an Urbex for a day.
You may have no idea what an Urbex is. It is an abbreviation for "Urban Explorer." These are people who find abandoned or 'haunted' places to go in and look at. It's riveting, exciting, nerve-wracking, and sometimes illegal. Some Urbex people will set up photoshoots using their own props, or real things from the abandoned place they're at. Abandoned places can be chilling to the bone, and your mind creates its own story on why the place is no longer operational. If you plan on following an Urbex lifestyle, make sure you have all the equipment you may need, as well as knowing how to run fast.
4. Go swimming...Anywhere.
Of course pool swimming is normal, but what about a creek, a lake, the ocean? Most people get disgusted with river or lake water, claiming it is too green to swim in. However, some lakes have beautiful spots that the water is clear and actually really refreshing! Swim under a natural waterfall or with some fresh-water fish. Don't knock it 'til you try it!
5. Stargaze.
Okay, this may seem like it's not very 'adventurous' but the journey is definitely just that and more. Don't just sit in your backyard and look up at the sky. Travel to a rural area where there aren't too many big buildings and look up at the sky then. Climb a roof (be careful and legal PLEASE) and lay down to get a better view. Stargazing is something that can be made more fun depending on how you go about doing it.
6. Hike, hike, and hike again.
Find a beautiful or popular trail, park, or mountain and get to climbing. Yes, walking up hills suck, but you tell me that while looking at the view of what's around you. Bring a bottle of water, a camera, and a dear friend who you can have photoshoots with.
7. Get a tattoo or piercing.
As long as you're old enough to do this one, definitely do it. Tattoos and piercings are awesome additions to the story of your life. You get to explain the meaning behind each one of them, and most of them will have the best meanings. As a person with nine piercings and five tattoos, I can definitely vouch for this one. A tattoo artist the other day said to me that he never minds when people have different tattoos from different artists. His answer to why he said that put an awesome perspective on tattoos for me. He said that "Every artist does different styles of work, so having more tattoos from different people isn't being stupid, it's collecting." That made me realize that we write our own books and essentially are blank pages to draw on. We are filling our empty papers with beautiful colors, symbols, and drawings, no two alike because the artists vary.
8. Do a challenge.
Test your strength, do something you never would. Push yourself, test your limits. If you also take this point literally, here's a list of challenges for you to do.
9. Go on vacation.
Get away for a day or a week. Take a day trip or road trip. Go to a spot you've never seen before and make memories there. I promise it'll be worth the extra money you might spend.
10. Take lots of videos and pictures.
Well, the adventures you go on aren't gonna document themselves! Take endless pictures and videos, create a montage, get a GoPro. Never stop taking pictures and videos as you can never have enough.
Whatever you do this summer and after that, don't stop creating memories. Hopefully adventuring becomes something everyone loves doing!
