One of my favorite things about hiking is the way you can feel so small in such a big place. I haven't found the exact way to really describe the feeling about hiking in the mountains but it's amazing how liberating it feels to just be one with nature and have the opportunity to take in all of mother nature's beauty. One of my favorite areas to go hiking in is Tennessee. There are so many hidden treasures and beautiful mountain views that you will find yourself not knowing what direction to look at first. For me personally, hiking is a great way to just disconnect from reality and our phones. It is amazing how long your battery on your phone will last when you're out hiking all day. The only time the phone is used is to find the destination and to take pictures.
Taking pictures leads me to my next point. There is no way to truly capture the beauty of the views that you will encounter. As someone who loves to capture memories, it is frustrating but at the same time, it gives me more of a reason to eventually forget about trying to get the perfect picture and instead sit down and really admire the scenery. After all, you can never capture feelings or smells in pictures. So to me, it is important to step back and really enjoy the atmosphere.
Another thing that I love about hiking is the company! A hiking partner is a must when going on adventures. You might think you know everything about someone but being out in nature will teach you things about each other and it makes for a great bonding experience. There's a lot of teamwork involved especially depending on the difficulty of the hike. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Hiking may seem like a daunting activity for someone who has never gone hiking but there are hikes that are for all levels of difficulty. If you ever have the opportunity to hike, do it! It will change you.
