Last Thursday, Marvel fans were given a gift in the form of the first look at Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now that the dust has settled and everyone has had the chance to comb through the trailer, here are five things to get excited about while we wait for the latest movie in the MCU.
1. Tom Holland's performance as Spider-Man
Holland's interpretation of the masked hero in "Captain America: Civil War" was so fresh and inspired. He was able to channel both the strong side of Peter Parker and his whimsical side. Spider-Man is a teenager after all, and he should be making goofy puns while fighting crime.
2. Ned Leeds, Peter's best friend.
The relationship between a super hero and their best friends is so sacred so it was interesting to see the dynamic between these two. Ned and Peter seem to be the perfect best friends, always in snyc and cracking jokes. But, Leed is not just a comic relief; from the trailer we learn that Peter's alter ego does not remain a secret from Ned for long and he decided to help his friend fight crime.3. The diverse leading ladies.
Zendaya and Laura Harrier stole the show as Michelle, Peter's classmate, and Liz Allen, Peter's rumored love interest. While Marvel movies have featured diverse actors in the past, having two WOC as leading ladies in a big superhero film is something to cheer about!4. Tony Stark's father like role in Peter's life.
In Civil War, Tony went out of his way to recruit Peter's to help him fight Captain America. So, it was not surpring to see him in the trailer helping Peter figure out life after the battle. It was surpring to hear Tony try to talk Peter out of being a full time super hero ann get him to focus on being a normal teen; it seems like Iron Man might have a soft spot for our favorite spider hero.5. Michael Keaton as "The Vulture"
While a lot of the MCU villains in the past have been forgettable, Keaton's performance in the new Spider-Man seems to be one that will send chills up your spine. He is dangerous and out for blood. Spider blood.BONUS
