9 Tips To Follow For Clearer, More Hydrated Skin This School Year

In This Article:

We all know how stressful the school year can get and the impact it has on our bodies. For many of us, stress = breakouts! Among all the chaos that the semester can bring, be sure to include these ideas in your daily routine to ensure clear skin and a more happier you.

1. Stay hydrated

The most important thing we as students forget to do is drink water. Sometimes life gets so busy, especially since the semester started, and it can get so easy to forget to hydrate your body. If you want clear skin, this is your first step. Try drinking at least a gallon of water and you will start seeing a huge improvement. One way I stay hydrated is drinking water in my liter water bottle. I continuously fill up my bottle throughout the day, giving my skin the hydration it needs.

2. Eat healthily

The next most important thing you should do to help your skin be more clear is by eating healthy. I promise you that you will see a huge difference by eating fruits and vegetables rather than eating junk food. Remember, our bodies weren't made for digesting processed foods. Eat natural and healthy food, and you will see the huge impact that it has on your skin.

3. Tea tree oil spot treatments

Tea tree oil is the magical potion you can use for literally everything. It has the power to fix breakouts overnight. Tea tree oil is very powerful, so be careful not to use too much. You can dilute the oil in some water and apply it on your breakout with a Q-tip and leave it overnight. And voila. Your breakout is gone the next day.

4. Witch hazel is your best friend

Witch hazel is the secret ingredient that cleared my skin for good. Before using witch hazel I would get tiny breakouts that weren't pretty at all. I love using witch hazel and I didn't realize that women have been using witch hazel for years. It has amazing healing properties and is so good for your skin.

5. Wash your makeup brushes

The biggest mistake you can make is not cleaning your makeup brushes. Just imagine all the bacteria that builds up on your brushes. It's a recipe for disaster. Try to wash your brushes every day, if not then as often as you can. Sometimes, the main culprit to acne can be found in your makeup. Be careful and look at the product ingredients too.

6. Use a cleanser

Take off the day's makeup with a cleanser. There is only so much makeup that a makeup wipe can take off. Be sure to use a cleanser to make sure all makeup is taken off for sure.

7. Use an exfoliator

When I first heard the word "exfoliator," I had no idea what it meant. An exfoliator is used to take away the dead skin cells on your face. An exfoliator also helps fade away acne scars and make your pores look great.

8. Don't stress yourself out too much

This is a key step to include in your daily routine. Classes can be hard and we all know how important it is to pass and get good grades but please don't stress yourself too much. Sometimes it can be hard not to stress in today's world but I promise that living a stress-free life will make you feel and look so much better. More importantly, your skin will thank you.

9. Remember, put yourself first

No matter how busy school can get, don't forget about taking care of yourself. Don't be afraid to treat yourself throughout the week. You deserve it. Before school and grades, put yourself first In the end, you will see the results of doing so.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
