Dear Generation C,

Hi, it's your fellow "generation-er." Remember as a kid when your mom and dad would talk about when they were kids? What's missing in their stories? We are full of "first-world problems" and complain about everything.

We constantly have our phones in our hands and we look down at the screen versus living life in the present. The majority of us can't even make phone calls anyone because we are too used to the keys on our keyboard. We no longer say "I love you" to our loved ones. Instead, we send kiss emojis. What happened to handwritten letters? The intimacy and closeness of reading a letter is gone.

We have become too emotionally fragile and easily offended. We've lost our zeal to push forward and the ability to not get recognized when we do good deeds. We tweet, Instagram and Snapchat our whole life. If our relationship status isn't on Facebook is it really a relationship? Where did privacy go?

We've created a whole new fear of speaking our minds for the fear of offending someone. Gun emojis? Oh no, someone's offended. Blue lives matter? No, someone is angry. Every time something happens a new hashtag is started.

We are allowing the media to control our point of view. We are becoming their puppets. If our lives aren't like a Kardashian or a Jenner our life's are "lame." We are becoming so insanely materialistic that we aren't looking at what's important in life.

Why as a generation have our lives become so impacted by a glowing screen? What has happened to us? Where did late nights up with friends in person turn into late night Snapchats? When did our lives get so involved in our phones that life is literally just a highlight reel? We are so caught up in catching life in a screen we forget to stop and take in the rest of the world.

So let's face it, not everyone wins. Not everyone is going to have a glamorous life. Not everyone is going to be famous. Not everyone gets to be around their family. Why live life with regrets? Sure you might have that awesome video from the awesome Adele concert you went to last fall, but can you remember the spark in your friend's eyes as they experienced their first concert? Was the air around you crisp with the smell of fall or was it humid and smell of dirty gym socks? Take things in.

So please, Don't take advantage of the ability to try new foods. Go new places. Being comfortable is where we fall short. As a generation, if we could stop whining and start living life, we would actually be able to experience awesome things! We would be able to recall a fun time in our lives. By all means, taking photos aren't bad, don't get me wrong here. Photos are an awesome way to remember something but don't forget to turn off the screen. Live life without it everyone and a while.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
