This marks the beginning of the "i" series, a journey within one's self through the eyes of society.

M"i"ne is where I find myself in society's eye.

M"i"ne is what I think when I cry late at night.

M"i"ne is all the time I spend in my mind.

M"i"ne is yours but through my eyes.

M"i"ne is happiness when it arrives.

M"i"ne is the innocence in the oppressor.

M"i"ne is the evil of the oppressed.

M"i"ne is both you and "i".

The "I" series will be a set of three social commentaries that seek not only to understand the prevalent voices of those in our various societies, but to also discover our own voice in an attempt to understand ourselves better. Influenced heavily by the theories that by understanding oneself we can understand others and that the societies we live in throughout our lives have great impacts on who we are and will become, the "i" series attempts to see just how far one can take the two theories on a journey from the outside-in.

"i"

The "i" is in lower case to suggest that the individual (or ourselves at that matter) are subservient to that which is around it - as is the common convention when the first letter of a word is capitalized and the others aren't. In this same way, it is a symbol that speaks to the significance of common conventions (the way in which things are usually done), challenging them and yet only being significant or noticeable because of them. These elements are linked to the conventions of our societies today as we are all a part of these societies and indeed are subservient to them; however, by challenging them and going against certain norms we can transcend the general normalcy and become noticeable and even significant - so the theory of "i" states here.

The Three.

Mind, Body and Soul. The series will be divided into these three different sections: "i" Hate You - the Mind, "i" Love You - the Body, and "i" Need You - the Soul. Not giving too much away about the context of the three all I will say about them is that each piece will have different Lyrical identity. Most of the writing is between the lines.

.

There you have it! The first series in my journey as a writer. I hope you enjoy it and it doesn't seem to cumbersome. Kindly comment on what you think about the series in general - especially any predictions as to what the Three might be about.

Let's have a fun adventure through society into ourselves...

M"i"ne is both you and "i".

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
