We are not lazy, we are innovative.

Generation Y better known as Millennials is the generation that has given new aspects of social ideas. A lot of times we are criticized for being outspoken, but in reality we are more optimistic of the future of America. We enter adulthood with unrealistic expectations from older generations, but we still manage to change the way we see the world. We are the only generation so far that has grown with technology, which allows us to better express ourselves from anywhere in the world.

With social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. we are able to communicate our ideas and talk about important issues that affects everyone. We don’t keep quiet when it comes to injustice and we go out of our ways to raise awareness about almost anything. If we want to change the world, why are we criticized? What is so scary about being optimistic and trying to make the world a better place? Its true that sometimes not much is done, but is not because we don’t try enough, sometimes the situation gets out of our hands and it is something bigger than us.

Technology has made our lives easier and we are more open minded than our parents which allows us to make more logical decisions. We ask more questions because we want to be very informed about everything. Although we go into adulthood with uncertainty because we don’t want to be tied down with an office job. We want to be more satisfied with what we do for a living than the amount of money we earn; because at the end of the day money will not make us entirely happy. When we work doing something we love it makes it easier to gladly help others and we are not as stressed.

They say we are addicted to our mobile devices, but they don’t understand how much we learn every day. We like to have fun and do crazy things because we are young only once, but we are always willing to learn something new. It is easier for us to be skeptical about advertising because we know it’s all about selling and yet we become familiarized with operating systems and devices to make our lives better.

We are not lazy, we are innovative. We are changing the world our way just like previous generations and with all the technology available to us it becomes an easier task. Generation Y analyzes everything and is optimistic about the future because we are willing to make it better.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
