At a loss of what shows to binge-watch over winter break? Here's a guide, for both guys and girls, of 15 show series to binge-watch on everyone's favorite website, Netflix.
1. "Friends" – 10 seasons
This series is one of my personal favorites. Keeping up with the six friends as they live their lives in New York is hilarious, entertaining and will leave you with several funny quotes and instances that will remind you of your own friends!
2. "Grey's Anatomy" – 11 seasons
Almost everyone has heard of "Grey's Anatomy." This series focuses on the life of Meredith Grey and her journey to becoming one of the best surgeons, as well as the lives of the numerous people she meets along the way. Meredith Grey's life is incredibly complicated and depressing. She won't waste time lying to you or telling you what you want to hear, and she's the strongest character in this series. If you're looking for a show to completely obsess over and overanalyze, this show is for you! Don't let the large number of seasons scare you away, the creator of this show, Shonda Rhimes, does an amazing job with tying in several flashbacks and keeping you on the edge of your seat (or bed).
3. "How I Met Your Mother" – 9 seasons
"How I Met Your Mother" is similar to "Friends," but was filmed more recently and is portrayed in a different, unique way. This show's story is told from the perspective of a father, Ted Mosby, who tells his children how he met his wife through flashbacks and his favorite times with his best friends. The suspense of who the woman he eventually married will sure to keep you engaged!
4. "The Walking Dead" – 5 seasons
If you're into apocalyptic shows or zombies, this show is the one for you. The "Walking Dead" is filmed with incredible attention to detail, portraying a very real end of the world feel.
5. "House" – 8 seasons
"House" is yet another doctor show. However, this doctor is different. Dr. House is quirky and painfully sarcastic and narcissistic while also being one of the most brilliant doctors ever. He has several students under his wing where they spend each episode cracking another difficult case of rare diseases or representations of illnesses.
6. "The Office" – 9 seasons
A fun, sometimes stress-filled office setting of the Dunder Mifflin company and how they go about their work. Interacting with co-workers, dealing with meetings and cubicles. This show is humorous and incredibly addicting.
7. "Law & Order Special Victims Unit" – 4 seasons
Olivia Benson and Elliott Staebler help keep the streets of New York clear from sexual assault. This may sound like a weird show to watch, but it is incredibly informative and also features several famous actors, actresses and singers in certain episodes.
8. "Scandal" – 4 seasons
A representation of what would happen if the President of the United States had an affair with someone who worked in the White House. This series may not be very realistic, but Olivia Pope (the other woman) is fierce and astonishingly good at covering up crimes that rich people may commit or be linked to.
9. "Gilmore Girls" – 7 seasons
Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are two of the most entertaining, quick-witted individuals with extensive knowledge on music, books and movies. This series is about a single mom and her daughter who are painfully close best friends, living in a small town while the mothers parents are incredibly wealthy and live an entirely separate life. The meshing of these two worlds is entertaining to say the least. There are several metaphors, puns, great quotes and characters within this series.
10. "New Girl" – 3 seasons
In this series, Zooey Deschanel's character, Jess, has an unfortunate realization that her boyfriend is cheating on her and has to move out at a moments notice. She finds a place to live where she has three male roommates. Jess is incredibly quirky, weird, funny and annoying. She is an elementary school teacher who soon begins to be one of the most influential and great friends that her three male roommates will ever have. This series is about all of the funny situations that come with living with three random guys.
11. "Dexter" – 8 seasons
"Dexter" is a gory, scary, creepy and concerning show. This show is about a man, Dexter, who kills people – a lot of people. But always in a certain way. His OCD behaviors keep him from being caught. This series showcases how Dexter is a serial killer but lives a completely normal life with a great job, friends and family. This show may sound disturbing and it absolutely is.
12. "Breaking Bad" – 5 seasons
Since this series is about an older man who's a loving father, husband and also a chemistry teacher who decides to start cooking and selling meth, this show is definitely unique. This show is action packed and interesting and is unlike any other show I've ever seen.
13. "Bob's Burgers" – 4 seasons
"Bob's Burgers" is a cartoon humor series that is fairly new and on the rise with the millennial generation.
14. "Family Guy" – 12 seasons
Another cartoon humor series. However, this humor can be painful to watch. It is humor based on very real issues within society as well as using real people and their actions as jokes. If you're easily offended, this isn't the show for you, but if you enjoy dry, blatant humor, "Family Guy" is the way to go.
15. "Supernatural" – 10 seasons
A series about two brothers who exhibit supernatural powers as well as face other supernatural beings. If you're into magic and mythical things, this is the show for you. (Also, the two brothers are very attractive.)
