GBD Do's and Don'ts

Green Beer Day should be a national holiday. To Miami students, it basically is. Starting at midnight (sometimes even earlier) on the Thursday before spring break, Miami students emerge from their dorms and houses to take part in this time honored tradition. Green Beer Day is a party like no other, so it's important to know the dos and the don'ts to having a great GBD.

Don'ts

1. Don't skip important classes. This is an all day event. Go out in the morning come home, take a nap and go to that class. Most people sleep from 10 to 1 anyways, so you won't be missing much. You will regret skipping that presentation when you get your grade back.

2. Don't show up to class drunk. Professors know it's GBD and they are looking out for drunken kids. They will kick you out of class if they have to. Also, consider using a straw to drink your green beer in the morning, professors will be looking for green mouths and teeth.

3. Don't forget to eat. Again, this an all day event; make sure you have a big breakfast, or go to a kegs and eggs. Just make sure you have something in your stomach; your body will thank you later. Call Jimmy John's or hit up Skyline. Fast food is the best food, after all.

4. Don't go uptown if you are under 21. Be on the lookout and stay smart. There will be plenty of parties for you to hangout at, and you don't have to spend any money.

5. Don't get arrested. It might seem like a silly tip, but it happens every year. Some stupid kid walks into the street with his drink and next thing you know the cops are there. Just do yourself a favor and stay in the yard.

Dos

1. Do go to as many parties as possible. There will be plenty to go to, trust me. They are all equally just as fun as the other, and you won't regret going to a single one. You only have four (maybe five) GBD's as a Miami student, so why not make the best of it?

2. Do take a nap. You might think that you will want to stay out all day and that your body can handle it. I am going to tell you right now, it can't. Naps are an important part of GBD. It helps you rally from the morning parties, and makes sure you get to the afternoon ones. Naps are great, and your body will thank you for it on Friday.

3. Do buy a GBD shirt. These are always fun and a great way to remember (or try to) this eventful day. GBD shirts come in all different styles so take some time and figure out which shirt is the shirt for you!

4. Do take lots of pictures. You are going to want to remember this day for years to come. GBD pictures are always fun to look back on and document what you did for this Miami tradition.

5. Do just have fun. It's Green Beer Day. Celebrate it, live it up, and enjoy every second of it. Like I said, you only get four as a Miami student, so make the most of it.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:
