My best friends and I live for the gayest month of the year when profile pictures transform into rainbow-themed masterpieces, the gay couple across the street displays their rainbow flags around the house, and glitter seems to magically fall from the sky!
It's the best time of the year!
My friends and family love to show off our pride and, although we do it all year round, it's especially liberating to have an entire month honoring a group of people that deserve the same respect as any other heterosexual individual. We always go to NYC Pride to celebrate ourselves, one another, and all the sexualities of the world! I've been to pride events all over the globe to experience and support the pure charm of humanity. Not only is pride fun, supportive, energizing, and hilarious, but there is no other environment where the surrounding love in the air is palpable. As people throw glitter, condom and lube packages, and multi-colored flags at you, there is no possible way you can not feel included.
So, stand up for your identity—no matter who you are—and we will be here ready to party with you!
1. Best part of pride month in NYC is the subway posters
The first time I saw these, I started to scream and cry. I love my city.
2. Wig-mazed
I'm astonished, amazed, and trying to copy this as soon as I figure out how get all those wigs on.
6. Hot, sexy, and international humans!
But did you catch that inspirational rainbow kippah on slide 13?! Now that's what I like to call #JewishPride
9. Sorry, you can't pray the gay away
But really, what kind of monster would want to pray all this love away?
10. It would be even better if the sirens played Madonna's "Vogue"
Move to the right of the road and "let your body move to the music!"
11. Worldwide pride hits me right in the heart-balls every time
It warms my heart to see acceptance in foreign places.
14. If you can attend all of them, you get a prize
Buying travel tickets now! Whose joining me? I need an airplane buddy.
15. Grandpa and granddaughter duo
If this isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen than I don't know what is.
16. Danny DeVito + Pride = Gaymazing
He was on a float waving to people! I hope I'm that cool by age 73.
18. "Falling in love at a conversion therapy camp"
I also have a confession, not an expert on gay cinema, but totally watching "But I'm a Cheerleader."
19. Never Stop Learning (and Educating)
It's always a good idea to brush up on your knowledge of identity!
24. You? Gay? Yeah, we knew already.
When my older brother came out to my mom for the first time, she had a very similar response. Everyone knew he was gay, but he had to be ready to tell everyone himself.
