Flickering Myth

With the drop of the most recent, and probably last trailer for "Captain America: Civil War," we are now at an optimal point to analyze everything we know and attempt to figure out the secrets of the movie. Bear in mind that this can be considered spoilers by some, but a good chunk of this is speculation, so I’m liable to be wrong. I'll also put the most spoiler-y things at the end of this article, so it should be all right.

The Story

All right. This much we can be sure about.

After the events of the previous movies, with people dying at the hands of super villain attacks, the government has decided to register super heroes. We’re not really sure how far this goes, but it will make every super hero required to become a government agent. Captain America’s reason for resisting this is because he doesn’t trust people to control the heroes. Also, Bucky-who is out from under HYDRA's control for at least some of this movie-plays a big part in it, because the government wants to hold him responsible for his actions under HYDRA’s control. We’ve seen that there’s some sort of sleeper pod that Bucky ends up, so it’s even possible that the government wants to reprogram him. There's so many rumors about him that it's hard to say, but someone is definitely out to get him.

Here’s the teams:

Pro-registration

-Iron Man

-Black Widow

-Vision

-War Machine

-Black Panther

-Spider-man

Anti-Registration

-Captain America

-Bucky

-Falcon

-Hawkeye

-Ant-Man (Who will also grow to become Giant-Man)

-Scarlet Witch

The Newbies

Looking over that lineup, there are a few names that come as a surprise.

First off is Black Panther.

He’s a prince from the African country of Wakanda. Wakanda is where Vibranium, the material that Captain America’s shield is made out of. This makes him bullet-proof, and he has Vibranium claws that can scratch Cap’s shield. There’s speculation that he gets drawn into this because Bucky attacked some Wakandan embassy, which is backed up by Panther chasing Bucky down.

Then there’s the elephant in the room-Spider-Man. Here's his actor, Tom Holland:

Sony allowed Marvel to use Spider-Man after the Amazing Spider-Man movies didn’t do as well as expected. This Spider-Man is not the same one as those in previous movies.

In the comics, Spider-Man started out on Iron Man’s team, and received an “Iron Spider” suit, but switched to Cap’s side when he saw the methods that Iron Man was willing to use to win. We know at least one person is going to switch sides, so it’s probable he’s going to here as well.

It is notable that Spidey’s eyes are animated, similar to Deadpool’s. They’ll be expressive, the way they are in the comics.

Also, Tony calls Spidey "Underloo" as a take off of his costume, which looks most like he's wearing long underwear of the cast.

The Unknown Elements

There are a number of characters we haven’t seen yet. Namely, Martin Freeman of Sherlock fame is playing a government agent, who will probably be associated with Black Panther. We also know that there are traditional super villains in this movie. Baron Zemo, a classic Captain America enemy, has an as-of-yet unknown part to play in this saga. Crossbones-who we met as Brock Rumlow in Winter Solider-seems to fight against the Avengers, but it seems as if that scene will come early on in the movie-perhaps his fight against the Avengers makes the government decide to start registering super heroes.

Deaths

The spoilers bellow are much more major. Read with discretion

!

Character Death Rumors are a dime a dozen. The most common rumor is that Captain America is going to die, because originally Chris Evans’ contract was schedule to run out. Also, he died in the comics, and Bucky as well as Falcon have been Captain America since. But Chris Evans has stated that he’s willing to do more since then, so I’d say that Robert Downy Jr. is more likely to quit, because he has a wife and family. There’s no "Iron Man 4" in the immediate future because he wants to spend more time with them, for instance.

Here’s the a more credible rumor

Yeah. Bucky’s been disarmed. This could be in response for him wounding War Machine. We know that the latter is going to be injured, but it might not be at Bucky’s hands. It’s definitely more likely that Bucky is just injured as opposed to dead, but it’s still interesting to see.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
