5 DIYs To Amp Up Your Game Day Outfit

We all want to amp up our game day outfits. Today, the plain sweatshirt and leggings look, or t-shirt and jeans look, just doesn’t seem to cut it. However, no one wants to spend a ton of money buying new clothes every gameday to change it up. Here are five ways you can amp up your typical gameday outfit to make it a little trendier and different, and all on your own for a reasonable price!

1. Patches

Adding patches to a shirt can totally change a shirt you already have and boost it up a little. Take a t-shirt, any t-shirt, whether it’s a plain-colored one, or a school one. Then, go to your local art store or even bookstore and buy some patches. Once you have your shirt and patches, iron or glue them onto it! You can add patches to sweatshirts, pants, and jackets as well! Don't be afraid to add them to literally anything.

Whether it’s your school logo patch, or even a random avocado or lips patch, any patch will look cute. They add some extra school spirit and change up your outfit a little to make it more interesting, fun, and not to mention trendy.

2. Cutting clothing

Although cutting clothing can sometimes be intimidating, do not be afraid to do it! Taking an old t-shirt, or sweatshirt and cutting it up a little can completely change its look. You can crop it, add slashes and cuts to it, or completely change the style of it. For example, you can change a t-shirt to make it a halter tank, or even make it tie in the front. The possibilities are endless, so don't be afraid! And, if you mess up there are plenty of ways to make it look cute and changing your unintentional mistake to an intentional trend!

3. Fishnets

A very popular trend for all clothing this fall is fishnets. Fishnets can be worn under anything or over anything. There are plenty of ways to wear fishnets that can change up your look. Additionally, they are pretty cheap. Get a pair of fishnets from Amazon in your school's color, wear them under a pair of your favorite boyfriend jeans and they are bound to change your look making it trendier and fun. You can even get a fishnet shirt and add your school's logo on it by cutting a t-shirt and layering it over.

4. Layering

Layering is completely underrated. Cut some of your favorite fabrics, flannel, or anything fabric in the color of your school and sewing it under a pair of your ripped jeans can add so much to your outfit. Or, you can layer a t-shirt on top of a patterned long sleeve!

There are a ton of ways you can layer your clothes to change up what you’re wearing. Plus, if you go to a cold school like the University of Wisconsin, any layer means more warmth, and we can all use that here in Madison.

5. Jackets

Although I sometimes hesitate to wear a jacket on game day because I want to show off my outfit, they are completely underrated as well. A jacket can actually make your outfit look better. Take an old jean jacket and add patches, or wear your school-colored jean jacket on top and it can totally make a difference.

You can also find fun and cheap bomber jackets with your school color that can add to your outfit as well. Don't be afraid to wear a jacket because not only does it keep you warm, but it truly does add some style to your outfit.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
