Game Day is the Best Day

Here's Why:

7
Game Day is the Best Day

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the duration of your college career, it’s no secret that game days are the best days. There’s nothing better than seeing an entire student body come together, rally, and cheer on your football team. Nothing compares to college game day – especially here at TCU. Even if you don’t religiously follow college football like I do, there is still something for everyone when it comes to game day.

1. Go Purple Fridays

Seriously, this may just be the best perk to game day. How could you possibly think anything is better than getting free food for just simply wearing purple? Stores and restaurants rally around TCU and there are more than 170 different discounts and coupons that can save you money. Torchy’s Tacos, Toppers, Dominos, Sweet Sammies, and even LensCrafters all participate. For a girl like me who is a broke college student and “ballin on a budget”, I get so excited about my free Chic-Fil-A sandwich that sometimes I even have to go twice in a day. Sorry I’m not sorry.

2. Tailgating

Even if you don’t share the same level of adoration and respect for college football that I do, there is still a 99% chance that you can have the time of your life at a pre-football game tailgate. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen an unhappy person at a tailgate. There drinks, free food (one of my favorite parts as noted above), music, good looking guys, and nothing but good vibes.

3. Purple Dresses and Cowboy Boots

Watching a sea of girls wear purple dresses and cowboy boots walk into the stadium is literally amazing. It says “hey, we’re classy, we like football, but we’re also here to party” - and that is the perfect message. While girls spend their entire summer online shopping trying to find a purple dress, guys dream of game day when girls whip out these outfits. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. For the girls who aren’t into football, this is your time to shine; you can look cute in your dress and boots and just pretend like you know what’s going on.

4. The Student Section

This is probably the worst best part of game day. It’s hotter than hell, you’re sweating, you’re packed in like sardines, and you’ve probably involuntarily rubbed up against some sweaty fellow frogs. But my God, it is the best time of your life. Everyone is cheering, screaming, and you’ve got some of the best seats in the house to watch the frogs tear it up. If I can tell you anything, it’s to experience the student section at least once in your life – because it will change your life.

Game day at TCU is literally one of the greatest days of the year. Everyone is united, in a good mood, and ready to get down. The next home football game is on September 13th and whether you’re a football fan or not, I expect you to be out there enjoying yourself and supporting the Frogs.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):

When it comes to Bloomington-Normal, there are many outstanding factors that any Illinois State student can say are unique to our college town (and maybe others too). Proud or not, we Redbirds know all the ins and outs of Blono.

1. The wait for Buffalo Wild Wings is always going to be long on Thursday nights.

As hard as we try, it's nearly impossible to resist the 69-cent wings on a college student budget. Plus, they are always delicious!
