In case you couldn’t tell by my last article, I am a Cleveland fan through and through. The Land will forever be my home no matter where I end up. Naturally, Game 7 of the World Series was a tough one to watch for a die-hard Indians fan like me. It’ll probably go down as one of the best baseball games ever played.
The Tribe started off strong, leading the series 3-1 before losing two consecutive games to the Chicago Cubs. Then it was time for game 7, at home. I had full confidence with Corey Kluber on the mound. He’s one of the best in the league, and he had already led us in a handful of victories in the postseason. I had no doubt that the Indians would end up World Series Champions.
Then, I wasn’t so sure. The game was an emotional rollercoaster for Cubs and Indians fans alike. By the 9th inning, I had no clue how this game would end. It could honestly go either way. I was praying that we could pull it off. A walk-off in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the World Series would be a story I would tell my grandkids. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Losing the game broke my heart. I’m happy for the city of Chicago, but I love the Cleveland Indians. I’ve grown up loving the Tribe, and I’ve never seen a post-season one as exciting as this year. Cleveland got a championship with the Cavaliers, but a World Series title would’ve meant so much more for me. Cleveland fans have a phrase that we’re all very familiar with: there’s always next year, right?
