Game 6: Chicago Cubs

Is it really happening?

Game 6: Chicago Cubs
Herald and Review

Before, it started out as a 3-1 lead. However, on October 30, 2016 the Chicago Cubs battled the Cleveland Indians at Wrigley Field. With Smotlz singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” in the middle of the 7th inning, it was a game of a life time.

The Indians started out with a 1-0 lead over the Cubs at the beginning of the game. Then, the Cubs made a miraculous recovery leading them 3-1 over the Indians. As a fan, I was losing it by this point. Could they hold it together? Is this actually happening?

Lester was the pitcher for the majority of the game and did a phenomenal job at it. However, the Cubs fans began to get nervous when the Indians hit a ball in the outfield allowing for the 3-1 run lead to change to a 3-2 lead. With just a one run or more difference between a Game 6 and the Indians winning the World Series at Wrigley Field, the tension was on.

At midnight last night, the Chicago Cubs sealed the deal with the 3-2 run lead and allowed themselves a Game 6 in Cleveland. Not only do we get to see the Cubs play again, but this marks the first time in YEARS!! That there was a World Series Game win at Wrigley Field. The crowd went wild as the game ended, the “W” Flags waved around in the air and then, as if it wasn’t enough, the Chicago Cubs Theme Song played loudly over the crowd.”

“Go Cubs Go…Go Cubs Go… Hey Chicago What Do You Say, The Cubs Are Gonna Win Today.” For the first time, generations upon generations of hope have built up to this moment. As Cubs fans, we all have someone that inspired us to love this team. For me, it was my family in Chicago, especially my grandpa and godfather. Since I was a kid, I grew up playing softball in hopes of playing baseball with the big guys. Although that wouldn’t work, yet (operative word), the Cubs paved the way for some pretty big dreamers.

If you look at the news, no one seems to care about the Cleveland Indians. Okay, sorry, Ohio is the only state that cares about the Indians winning a World Series. But The Cubs mark the only baseball team with the longest streak of not holding a World Series title. Long story short, the curse is broken now.

For those that do not know the Chicago Cubs curse, click this link. The curse stopped the Cubs from making it to the world series and winning one. In 1975, the Cubs made it to the World Series and lost. In 2015, the Cubs were on their way to the World Series and lost as one of the top for teams. Now in 2016, they made it again, managed to break records at home, and are moving on to a game 6.

The only team ever capable of coming back from a 3-1 lead was the Boston Red Sox in 2004. At that time, the last time they won a World Series was in 1918. At Game 5, they managed to win the remaining 3 games, sealing the deal with a World Series Win, breaking their own curse.

“It is Happening.” This has been a common phrase among Cubs fans because if the Red Sox are able to break their curse, so can they. The next game is Tuesday, November 2, 2016 at 8:08 in Cleveland. As a fan, I would love nothing more than to see the Cubs win a World Series. Not just for my own enjoyment, but for the pleasure of knowing the team that started dreams and amazing traditions finally claimed a title that is deserved. With about 95% of the country rooting for the underdog, sorry Cleveland. You have Ohio State, who have an amazing

football team. You have the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are the 2015 NBA Champions. I think that you, the state of Ohio, already have enough to be pro

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
