Why Everyone Should Celebrate Galentine's Day

As Leslie Knope says in the television series Parks and Recreation, "What's Galentine's Day? Oh, it's only the best day of the year... February 14 is about celebrating romance. But February 13, Galentine's Day, is about celebrating lady friends." It's the one day a year all girls should celebrate together, whether you're in a relationship or not. You can pretty much do the same thing with your friends such as dinner dates, movies, and shopping. If you're far away from home send flowers to your mom and sister and perhaps call up your friends in different states. This is the day where ladies celebrate each other and our wonderfulness.

It should be a National holiday

If anyone knows how to celebrate an unofficial national holiday, it's Leslie Knope. I think we all need a Leslie Knope in our friend groups to make days like this one extra fun. If anyone wants to start a petition to make it a national holiday, count me in.

It's a part of the Girl Code

You can have just as much fun with your girls than with a guy. Except being with your friends is 10,000 times better because no one can make you laugh harder than your crazy friends. Personally, I love laughing so hard to where you can't breathe and you're practically crying. Those are the kinds of friends that keep your spirits up.

Three words for you: Treat Yo Self

Those pair of heels you've been eyeing for weeks? I think it's time you buy them. You deserve them. Go get your nails and hair done. Buy a dozen cupcakes and eat half of them. It's only February and this year has been stressful enough already. Ladies, it's time that you treat yo self.

It's a day where no girl should cry over a boy

The boy you're crying over doesn't deserve you and doesn't understand how to take care of your feelings. He's selfish. He probably doesn't even understand that he's leading you on. Whatever the reason, this is not the day to cry over him. Instead of crying tears of sadness, cry from laughing so hard with your best friends. Leslie Knope knows what's best: "And friendship is better."

The greatest compliments come from your friends

Yeah, it's wonderful to be complimented by a guy and all, but hearing compliments from your friends makes you happier on the inside. When girls compliment each other, we actually mean it.

We all need to realize the importance of this day

At the end of the day, you realize how blessed you are to have your girls in your life and you wouldn't want it to change. Appreciate them every day. What would life be like if you didn't have people like them in your life? Your friends help shape you into the woman you are today and make sure you don't lose track of who you are.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
