Have fun on Galentine's Day with these activities for you and your gals. Who needs men anyway? Here are some fun activities for you and your gals to do on Galentine's Day!

1. Candle making

It’s super easy to make candles! All you need is candle wax, wicks, glasses, a pot, oven/microwave, and optional fragrance oil. You can buy all the necessities in bulk at Amazon and have them come just in time for your Galentine's Day activities!

2. Calligraphy lessons

You can buy fun booklets or even print out templates to trace over letters to practice calligraphy. What makes it more fun is learning with watercolors; the letters glide with a paintbrush and watercolor is super forgivable.

3. Craft night

Who doesn’t love crafting? Get your gals together and have a craft night. You guys can all bring miscellaneous things you don’t use much anymore and figure out how to put them to use again.

4. Chocolate making

If you haven’t seen the intricate videos of people making and decorating chocolate for their loved ones, then go look it up now! It’s sisters over misters and decorating chocolate for each other will be so much fun and delicious.

5. Painting with a twist

Whoever came up with the idea of painting but with (legal) drinking fun was a genius. If you don’t know how to paint it’s no pressure, you could even make it finger painting to add even more of a fun twist to it.

6. Cookie decorating

Cookies are amazing, and the frozen premade cookies are super cheap to buy at Walmart. Just buy a couple tubs of icing, which not to mention are the best to eat alone too, and decorate some cookies with your gals.

7. Game night

It’s always a good time to have a good old-fashioned game night. Bust out the board, card, and Xbox/PlayStation/Wii games for a fun time. Turn on a funny movie in the background and play til you drop.

8. Soap making

Just like making candles this is a super easy activity to do! All you need is soap base, molds, a pot, oven/microwave and optional fragrance oil and dye. Making soap is super easy and you can use it around your house anytime.

9. Knitting/Crocheting

It’s always a good time to learn something new and certainly the season for making something to keep you extra warm. All you need is knitting/crocheting needles and some yarn to do this project. You can grab these items just about anywhere.

10. Pamper yourself

Paint your nails, put on some facemasks, do a little online shopping, and get your treat yo self on!

Have fun gals!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
