A few years ago, I decided to make the jump to an android phone by getting a Samsung Galaxy phone. It was a whole new world of new music platforms and google based apps, and also a subculture to today's trends. I got to customize my home screen with many themes and widgets to make my phone truly feel mine. One of the best features I found was the Samsung fast charging that would give me a full charge in a matter of an hour. I eventually fell in love with the android platform and would swear by it any chance I had.
After about a year, I ran into multiple complications including the USB port, wifi capabilities, freezing, and the loss of my fast charging, the reasons of why I switched were suddenly pulled from under the rug.
Throughout the next six months, I took my prized phone to multiple repair shops, including Samsung itself, only to be told I was out of luck and wouldn't get the features back that I desired, even though I cared for that phone like my child and never let it come into any questionable circumstances. They just didn't want to help me, and I was constantly frustrated with the problems.
After a lot of disrespect and contemplation, I decided to take a leap of faith and see what was happening on the Apple side of the market. Even though I swore I'd never go back, I purchased a brand new iPhone 6s the second my contract was up. Unknowingly, that decision changed my perspective on means of communication.
After setting up my new phone and spreading the news, I was instantly added to a group chat with a bunch of my friends who I didn't even know talked to each other. I didn't know the color of your chat bubbles meant so much to today's generation of technology users. Now that I had an iPhone, I was suddenly receiving hundreds of texts a day, and even some weird iMessage games of 8 ball pool.
The battery life and home screen surprised me as well, as I don't remember their charging to be this fast, nor them including widgets on their home screen, but in a more convenient separate page of the home screen. I was also able to keep my music, photos, and documents with the google sponsored apps, one of the main reasons I switched to Samsung in the first place.
Suddenly, the gap between Samsung and Apple were becoming increasingly smaller, with my new iPhone taking the prize. The reasons why I switched were showing up left and right when I learned how to use an iPhone and it exceeded my expectations by a long shot. It sprung me further in my social life and also connected me with new people, as well as letting me keep my necessities on a phone. Before I was team Galaxy, but now I stand a supporter of iPhones and can never see myself going back.
