How Apple's iPhone will continue to change the smartphone industry

Apple has always had a way of setting trends. It started in the early days of computers with the Macintosh II 1987 and continued with the iPod and still pioneers today with every new addition of the iPhone. However, their latest new "thing", expected to be released with the iPhone 7, may be a bit far fetched. They've abolished the headphone jack.

Instead of traditional, old-fashioned head phones, iPhone now must be used with wireless Bluetooth headphones, and the version Apple has created are called "Air Pods" and they look absolutely ridiculous. It's OK though, because once you inevitably lose the tiny cordless ear buds, they can be easily replaced for the low price of $159.99!

Of course, they say history repeats itself, and I have no doubt that by the time the iPhone 7 is released, everyone will be scrambling for some wireless, over-priced, immediately lost, Bluetooth headphones. So, in preparation of Apple setting new trends and changing the industry year after year, I've decided to look ahead and predict what kind of new trends they may be setting in the future.

iPhone 7s- Literally the exact same thing as the iPhone 7..... but bigger!

iPhone 8- The iPhone is without a doubt the most advanced piece of technology on the market, but it still has a screen that breaks if the light hits it just right. To fix this, Apple has removed the screen entirely. Nobody knows how to use it, as it is just a solid, beautifully crafted piece of metal with a home button and a selfie camera.

iPhone 8s- Since nobody can use their iPhone 8 without a screen, the iPhone 8s has a separate screen that you can buy called the Air Screen that syncs to your useless piece of metal via Bluetooth. Air Screen is sold separate for $299.99!

iPhone 9- They've added the screen back, but now have decided to tackle the issue of poor battery life. They've done this by removing the battery. The phone is now powered by swiping your credit card repeatedly.

iPhone 9s- With the screen and battery life issues dealt with, there's only one problem left. Consumers complain of constantly losing their convenient, wireless, Bluetooth headphones! To fix this, Apple has once again changed the industry by introducing the new, innovative Air Wire. The Air Wire is a chord that not only connects the two Air Pods together, but also connects them to a hole in your phone. Not only that, but the phone is now able to power and send signal to the Air Pods themselves, completely doing away with the need for Bluetooth connectivity! Just plug them in and go!

The future really is an exciting place, isn't it?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
